The Pinckney Treaty• was signed in San Lorenzo de El
Escorial on October 27, 1795.• Treaty consisted of 3 points. • The southern boundary of the
US is at the 31 degree leaving Florida in the hands of Spain.
• US citizens can use the Mississippi River freely.
• Spain and the US agreed to control Indians in borders and prevent them from attacking each other’s territory.

• A war with the Seminole Indians took place in Florida in the 19 century.
• Adams accused Spain of breaking the Pinckney Treaty by failing to control the Seminoles.
• So, in March 1818, General Jackson with only 2000 men went in the First Seminal War.
