ASHER INTRATER Revive Israel, Tikkun International

Prayer is so important that it seems to be the primary work that Yeshua has committed himself to for the past 2,000 years. Apparently, He figured He could get more

done by intercessory prayer than by anything else.Hebrews 7:25 – “For He lives ever to make intercession

for them.”Romans 8:34 – “He is

at the right hand of God interceding on our behalf.”

Therefore, when we pray by the leading of the Spirit of God, we are actually joining together with Yeshua, interceding together with Him as He intercedes for us. This prayer partnership with Yeshua bears much fruit exponentially for the kingdom of God. This urgent intercession marshals all the powers of both heaven and earth in strategic effectiveness.

Recently we have sensed the Holy Spirit lead us to focus our prayers on five strategic areas, and we want to ask you to join with us in intercession.

Urgent International PrayersKorean Nuclear Weapons – Kim Jun Um has promised

to dismantle NK’s nuclear weapons and research, and to demilitarize the Korean peninsula. If this is a false promise, the situation could deteriorate. If it is true, then a potential new era of peace could arise. Let us pray for immediate and full disarmament.

URGENCY OF PRAYERTrump – Whether one agrees with Trump’s policies and

style or not, he is the most influential political leader in the world today. We need to pray for God to guide and direct his thoughts, speech, decisions and partnerships. What Trump decides leads to a domino effect upon other nations.

Media – The potential peace in Korea and subsequent changes in other nations are also influenced not only by the facts but how they are reported in the news and social media. Let us pray for righteous reporting and for a positive change in public opinion; in Asia, the West and the Middle East.

Move of US Embassy to Jerusalem – The United States has moved its embassy to Jerusalem. Several other nations have already announced that they will do so also. This begins a new stage in the controversy over Jerusalem as prophesied in Zechariah 12:2-3, and thus moves us all into more end times’ events.

70-Year Alignment – In 1948-9 following World War

II there was a realignment of national borders from West to East. That alignment of nations has stayed in effect all these years. We are seeing the beginning of a new alignment after this 70-year period. Even the Arab nations, such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia are reconsidering their relationship with Israel.

DANIEL JUSTER Restoration from Zion, Tikkun International

I was a skeptical college student searching for confidence – confidence that the Biblical world

view was true. I studied the Bible as well as other religions and philosophy to gain that confidence. (My thinking was that if I did not find that confidence in the Bible, that I would construct a world view formed from the best of the different major religions.)

One thing seemed clear to me. If there were contemporary miracles which could not be explained by natural cause and effect, then that would at least show the supernatural realm to be real. In addition, if such miracles were mostly to be found in contexts of prayer in the name of Jesus, then this would give evidence for the truth of His claims. I was then a student at Wheaton College in Illinois, USA.

I wrote to Kathryn Kuhlman to ask regarding miracles. She replied with a personal letter and recommended a book by a cardiologist, Richard Casdorf. Her letter also referred me to a fellow student at Wheaton who had been healed of a club foot when he was a youngster, in a documented miracle.

My Quest QuestionedMany sought to persuade me that

the quest for evidence of contemporary miracles was wrong headed. They were of two opinions.

First – the classic cessationalist position – in which the rationalists thought that philosophical and historical evidence was sufficient. They felt that wanting contemporary miracles as evidence was foolish since miracles were mostly for the first century.

The second opinion pointed to the issue of faith being by the Spirit. For them the quest for evidence and miracles as evidence was itself a perverse orientation. They quoted Yeshua's rebuke of the scribes and Pharisees: “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah” (Matthew 12:39, ESV). They misunderstood Yeshua’s teaching about the lack of response to miracles from those with hardened hearts. They had an opposite view to the great apologist from Fuller Seminary in California some 50 years ago. Edward John Carnell argued that, “Faith is trusting in the sufficiency of the evidence.” I now know that we can just have that intuitive grasp of the heart that the Gospel is true. I never was convinced that my quest was wrong. And I did find some great miracles to help me along the way.

The Miraculous or Supernatural Today

However, in the 21st century we seem to be living in a different age. Miracles that can be documented are happening throughout the whole world at levels that have never been seen before. It is as if the pages of the book of Acts are now a worldwide reality. The noted scholar Craig Keener’s two volume book, Miracles, gives wonderful documentation in a reasoned presentation that cannot be refuted by any open minded person. And the miraculous is a major factor in the spread of the Gospel. Recently our congregation in Jerusalem sponsored a seminar teaching people how to hear the Holy Spirit and to bring the miraculous into their presentations of the Good News. It was a wonderful thing to see people come alive and to see miracles happening through them.

The Coming Move of the Spirit in Israel

As I look back on my four years of college skepticism, I now see the evidence of our faith as, almost a tsunami of evidence, an overwhelming flood of evidence (as Josh McDowell says). It is wonderful to see God working in this way, and I do believe we will see a growing level of miracles in witness here in Israel and around the world as part of a great move of the Spirit. Evangelism will again be empowered and supported by the miraculous, just as the Bible records: “God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will” (Hebrews 2:4 ESV).

From 1948 to 2018: What’s the Big Deal?Israel. What’s the big deal? Why is this little sliver of

land so important?Constantly in the news, grabbing headlines out of all

proportion to her land mass or population, Israel seems to provoke an emotional response—either deep respect or deadly hatred.

Now, in a bold move that is drawing both protest and praise from around the globe, the United States is moving its embassy to Jerusalem, Israel’s now and forever capital. This dramatic change, which brought the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on May 14, 2018, took place exactly seventy years after David Ben Gurion declared Israel’s independence as a nation-state—a homeland for Jewish people everywhere. Hearing the hue and cry of voices opposing the placement of a foreign embassy in the capital city, one cannot escape the irony. Every nation on earth is expected to choose its capital city and govern its people according to its own laws and customs. But when Israel welcomes the establishment of America’s diplomatic offices in Jerusalem, known to all as its national capital, this is considered an outrage. Why?

To answer this peculiar question we must return to the Hebrew Bible. Here, the ancient prophets foresaw the illogical and venomous response to Jerusalem. Here, we view the phenomenal saga of Jerusalem’s early choice by God, her impressive growth during the reigns of David and Solomon, her destruction at Babylonian hands (witnessed and described by Jeremiah), the exile and return of her inhabitants (recorded by Ezra and Nehemiah), and the prediction of a yet longer exile (prophesied by Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Hosea) to be followed ultimately by the miraculous resurrection and restoration of the people to Jerusalem and all Israel.

Both the disproportionate focus on Israel and the outrage over Jerusalem were predicted 2500 years ago.

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it” (Zechariah 12:1-3).

Authority that Supersedes Human Governments

The nations of the world cannot comprehend the meaning of Israel and her capital city, Jerusalem. Why? It is because they don’t recognize God's authority. Without the concept of a sovereign, divine Authority that supersedes human governments, the idea that God has declared His choices, values, and plans sounds absurd.

“Why do the nations rage and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against His Anointed…He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision…‘Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion.’” (Psalm 2:1-6)

Our destiny is to welcome Yeshua back to the very city in which He was pierced for our transgressions, His back shredded for our redemption. Anticipating His arrival transforms our daily routine into preparation for the ultimate coronation. Despite our foibles, God has involved us in this history-forming process. Our role is as intercessors, persevering in agreement with His plans.

“I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent, And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” (Isaiah 62:6,7)

This is a year to celebrate, and to rededicate ourselves to preparing the way of the Lord (Isaiah 40:3).

ERIC MOREY, Founding Elder

Several years ago my wife Terri and I noticed an interesting aspect of one of most famous passages of Scripture in the Torah. It is a passage which Jewish people know well. It is the story of Abraham

and Isaac when God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac on Mount Moriah. Abraham immediately chose to obey. Being a prophet of God (Genesis 20:7) Abraham knew that Isaac would somehow be restored to him. As they ascended the mountain, Isaac was carrying the wood for the fire, and asked his father, “Where is the lamb?” Abraham replied: “God will Himself provide the lamb for a burnt offering.”

But, as it turned out, God did not, on that occasion, provide a LAMB. He provided a RAM. So then we ask, “Where is the lamb God said He would provide as a substitutionary sacrifice?” “Where is the Lamb of God?”

The answer, of course, is that Yeshua is the substitutionary sacrifice, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world, as John the Baptizer proclaimed in the Gospel of John 1:29.

So, at Passover this year we decided to print these Scriptures and give them out to the people of our congregation, and to unbelieving friends and neighbors. We wanted them to consider this question which they have never noticed before – the same question that Isaac asked his father: “Where is the lamb?”

We are now printing the Scriptures in tract form, to be handed out with an actual, stuffed figure of a lamb, to emphasize and continually remind

Where is the Lamb?readers of the question. We will also make it available to other congregations. Just today, the pastor of the largest Messianic congregation in Israel saw it and wanted copies for his people to hand out.

It’s a hit, and it’s all about the Lamb of God!!!

“But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, ‘My father!’ And he said, ‘Here I am, my son.’ Then he said, ‘Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?’” (Genesis 22:7)

“And Abraham said, ‘My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.’ So the two of them went together…” (Genesis 22:8)

“Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.” (Genesis 22:13)

ABRAHAM WAS A PROPHET OF GOD. HE SAID GOD WOULD PROVIDE FOR HIMSELF A LAMB. GOD PROVIDED A RAM, NOT A LAMB.

QUESTION: WHERE IS THE LAMB GOD SAID HE WOULD PROVIDE? WHERE IS THE LAMB OF GOD?

“He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7)

“And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying, ‘Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?’ But He kept silent and answered nothing…” (Mark 14:60-61a)

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’” (John 1:29)

Dear Friends,We are in the middle of preparations for the Eagle Project 2018! In August of this year, more than twenty young adults from eight congregations

around Israel, will participate in this year’s Eagle Project, a discipleship program that takes place in Norway. We strongly believe that, by investing in our youth, we will establish a strong foundation for future generations of leaders and servants in the body of Messiah.

We invite you to partner with us so that we can bear much fruit together in this endeavor. We have many plans for this youth project to help enable our young participants to become God’s key instruments for influence and change in the future.

This endeavor requires significant funding as well as other resources. We are also aware of spiritual opposition as we reach out to these precious young people. for the enemy knows the power of the youth (1 John 2:14).

Where we need assistance:Prayer: Perhaps you would feel

led to pray for the project on a weekly or daily basis, on your own or even in your home group and congregation.

Gifts: Perhaps you would like to bless these young adults with items such as Bibles, bags and trip items. Most of the young people will have just finished their army service and would appreciate your caring through small presents.

Funds: If God puts it in your heart to provide financial support, you are welcome to donate to the project.

If you have never heard about the Eagle Project, please read the latest article posted on Kehila News or the archived article in Tikkun from September 2016.

Sometimes we as believers invent words. Like discipleship. We don’t actually see this word mentioned anywhere in Scripture, yet we have received it as a

Biblical term, and its meaning is definitely in God’s heart. So what does it really mean?

It means more than becoming a follower of Yeshua. It means becoming like the One we follow, “God-likeness.” That is our destiny. (Luke 6:40, I John 3:2)

This year at Tents of Mercy we have been focusing on discipleship deeply and seriously. We are concentrating on mentoring and equipping the different groups of our community - from the youth, to the young adults, to the young couples, to the mature couples. Much of the first half of the year was spent reviewing “God-likeness” from various angles. Then we took different groups to do focused weekend-equipping retreats. One such group was the young couples. In mid- February, 15 couples gathered near the Sea of Galilee for a marriage seminar weekend. Those days were a time of refreshing insight and vision for a “God-like” marriage. (See photo)

Now we are working with the young adults, ages 18-30. These young believers carry a great promise of revival, yet they are facing some intense struggles. Some of their challenges are caused by army service, living in a highly secular society or just being the target of an enemy who does not want the realization of God’s promises for their generation (Psalms 24:6-10). We

“KELIM”EQUIPPING FOR DESTINY

are certain that with the right tools, this generation will be used by God to bring revival to Israel. So we are starting a year-long program called “Kelim*” for young adults, which will include four weekend retreats. It will begin in July and

continue through March of 2019. We will be equipping in four essential areas: walking with the Lord, identity, calling and relationships.

It is amazing! Although there were many people whom Yeshua complimented for their faith, knowledge, or good deeds, yet He only commissioned and sent out those whom He discipled. That says a lot about God’s heart for training for “God-likeness.” In order to fully realize our gifting, calling and destiny we must not bypass, but rather grasp the opportunities God provides for training and equipping. That is why we also feel led and inspired to focus on equipping the next generation for their promising destiny.

“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (I John 3:1-3).

*Kelim is a Hebrew word meaning “instruments” or “weapons” in Biblical Hebrew and “tools” in Modern Hebrew.

MINISTRY WITH A VISION FOR REVIVAL IN ISRAEL AND THE NATIONS

The regathering of the Jewish people is an event that was prophesied many times in the Scriptures. It is hard to fathom that what we are seeing now was

actually predicted thousands of years before it happened.“The days are coming” says YHVH “that they

will no more say, ‘as YHVH lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ but rather ‘as YHVH lives who brought up the seed of the house of Israel from the land of the North and from all the lands to which I dispersed them and brought them that they would dwell on their land’” (Jeremiah 23:7-8).

This is a huge statement. We are experiencing something greater than what the people experienced who left Egypt with Moses. This is a miracle of Biblical proportions.

Supernatural InterventionThe fact that this has come to pass is proof that the

Bible is true. Naturally speaking it is impossible. No other people has been dispersed for 2,000 years and then regathered. It could not be predicted or fulfilled without supernatural intervention. It is proof of the divine origin of the biblical prophecy.

If this great historical promise has come true, how much more will the personal promises of Scriptures for our own lives also come to pass. We glean much personal LIAT ARCHER & ASHER INTRATER

The Miracleof Israel’s

70th Anniversaryencouragement for Bible promises in our own lives, as we look at the miracle of modern Israel.

The dispersion and regathering of Israel also has an amazing symbolic parallel to the death and resurrection of Yeshua. What happens to Israel’s king happens to Israel. Yeshua was killed by the Romans, and His soul left His body for two days. In parallel, the people of Israel were exiled out of their land for two thousand years. As Yeshua returned into His body after two days and was resurrected, so Israel has returned to their land to be restored after two millennia. The restoration of Israel is a parallel miracle to the resurrection of Yeshua.

Ultimate FullnessWhy has all this happened? What is the purpose? Biblical

prophecy describes another period of time yet to come. It is the Messianic or Millennial Kingdom upon the earth. It is the ultimate fullness of both the international Church and the nation of Israel.

There will be peace and prosperity, justice and righteousness, for all nations. The capital of the kingdom will be Jerusalem. For the worldwide kingdom to be established, the nation of Israel must be restored first. The restoration of Israel is part of the preparation for the coming Messianic kingdom.

We rejoice to see all these meanings during this 70th anniversary of the modern State of Israel:

Imagine my shock on the elliptical machine, sweat running down my cheeks, meditating on 1 Corinthians 3, when it hit me–Paul is not talking about exercise! In the passage, the apostle speaks of rewards in heaven,

and then suddenly he starts talking about our bodies being the Temple of God. I wondered, how did he get there? It doesn’t seem to connect. I went back and reread the verses, before and after, and noticed a word I had never seen there: Together. And, boom, it hit me!

And how ironic that I was exercising—taking care of the “temple,” so to speak—when I realized that eating right, not smoking and exercising had NOTHING to do with what Paul was talking about when he said:

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).

Now to be clear, in 1 Corinthians 6, he does refer to our bodies being temples of the Holy Spirit, in regards to sexual immortality. This is why sexual sins are especially perverse, because the presence of Jesus is inside our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

This is different than his meaning in chapter three. In chapter six, he says “temples” – plural, meaning that the presence of God dwells in every “individual” believer. But in chapter three, he says, that we together are the Temple (singular) of God. He is speaking of the entire body of Messiah.

Why is this Important!?Paul is very concerned about the Corinthians, who are rife

with divisions (1 Corinthians 1:12). He then rebukes them in chapter three for this (3:3-4).

We think “worldly” means listening to secular music, but worldly in the New Testament sense, means living life in the fleshly carnality of anger, strife, division, pride, jealously, etc. The Spirit-empowered believer is called to live on a higher level. Now, in verse 16 and 17, we see that Paul was far more concerned about their unity than he was about their diet.

The word for you in Greek is plural in these verses, hence the NIV adds the word “together” at the end of v. 17 to emphasize that we, the body of Messiah, together, are the Temple of God, not as individuals. This actually highlights something that is unique, and dangerous, about the English language: we have no 2nd person, plural pronoun! “You” can be speaking of an individual or a group. (Albeit in some dialects there is “y’all.”) Sadly, there are hundreds—maybe thousands–of places in both Old Covenant and New when the Scripture is speaking to us as a people, as a congregation, as a collective “you,” but only in the English language can it sound like He is speaking to just one, individual “you.” So when he says that God will destroy

YOU ARE NOT GOD’S TEMPLE!?

the person who destroys God’s temple, he is not talking about individuals smoking cigarettes or over-eating (things I do not recommend)—he is talking about those who cause division!

Causing SplitsThe New Testament speaks regarding the sin of schism or

division in the strongest language, “If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person.” In the midst of division, people fall away from the faith. Division and splits break God’s heart because they rip apart the body of Jesus.

Sometimes there are legitimate reasons to separate: gross sin, false teaching or a leader who is abusing the flock. But most splits are rooted in pride and hurt feelings.

Unity does not mean UniformityIn Paul’s letter, he refers to some being loyal to Apollos,

others to himself and some to Cephas (Peter). We could take this too far and say loyalty to a group or subdivision of the body of believers is wrong. That is not what Paul is saying here. There was nothing wrong with the fact that Apollos had a group of disciples that were loyal to him as their leader.

The issue is not the groupings, but the pride that enters in. Once you start thinking that your team is the best, you have entered a dangerous place. Paul was thrilled that Apollos was bearing fruit—he was not thrilled that some of these disciples were overly loyal to a man and standing in judgment of other leaders or movements. My connection with Tikkun International doesn’t cause me to judge other movements. Rather, I celebrate each one’s unique gifting and calling. We can have unity without uniformity, and we can celebrate the work of God in each other.
