Box Tops for Education
The PE department is collecting Box Tops for Education. Please turn
them in to your PE/Health teacher.

Ronald McDonald House CharitiesGrissom is once again collected pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities! The pop tabs are recycled and sold for scrap metal. Last year, Ronald McDonald House
Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana raised more than
$40,000 from this program. A collection box will be in the Commons
for your donations!
Chorus ConcertThe combined Grissom and Prairie View
chorus will hold its Winter Concert Tuesday at 7:30 pm right here at
Grissom!
Beginning this week and continuing through Dec. 15th, bring in your spare change to benefit the Tinley Wish Foundation. Grade level teams will
compete, with the top team overall getting a free gym period! Pennies count as negative points…put those in other team’s bins! Silver coins and dollar
bills count as positive points…put those in your team’s bins!
6th/7th Grade Girls Volleyball Tryouts
Tryouts for 6th and 7th grade girls volleyball will be held from 7:30-8:30 am on Monday, Dec. 11th and
from 3:15-4:45 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 12th. Permission forms are in the rack outside the Main Office and
should be turned in to Coach Chicvara by Friday, Dec. 8th.
Band Concert
The Grissom and Prairie View Concert and
Symphonic Bands will hold their Winter Concert on Wednesday at 7:30 at
Prairie View.
Cheer/Dance Team
Mandatory clinic is Tuesday, Dec. 5th
with tryouts Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 6th and 7th.

yearbook costs $27. The deadline for orders is Jan. 13,

Crayola ColorCycleStudents and teachers will soon be collecting used
markers (any brand!) to be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook
meals and more! Boxes will be located in the Commons. The Crayola ColorCycle program can keep tons of plastic
out of landfills each year! Remember, don’t throw out that used marker – ColorCycle it!
Grissom Green Team
The first meeting of the “Grissom Green Team” will
be Tuesday, Dec. 5th in Room 114. The meeting will
begin at 3:10 and end at 4:00.

KSD 140 Special Olympics
The Kirby 140 Special Olympics Basketball team will
play Oak Lawn on Monday, Dec. 11th at 6:30 pm right here at Grissom! Come out
and show your support for our Special Olympians!
14th Annual “Remembering Cathy & Allison” Toy Drive
Grissom is once again collecting toys for the
Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. Please
drop off unwrapped toys in the box in the Main Office.
Deadline for donations is Wednesday, Dec. 20th.

Student SupportBefore and after school
Student Support is offered from 8:00-8:35 am each
morning, and from 3:10-4:05 pm Monday through Thursday.
You must arrive at the beginning of the session and
stay for the whole time!
Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge
Last year Grissom Patriots saved over 6,600 plastic water bottles
from ending up in landfills by using the water bottle filling stations throughout the building. Please
remember to use these instead of plastic bottles. So far this year, we’ve saved 4,303 bottles from
landfills! Let’s beat last year’s total!
