Dr. King Observance – Wednesday, Jan. 11th The annual Dr. Martin Luther King program and soul food fellowship dinner will be held on Wednesday, January 11th at Oak Valley. The soul food fellowship dinner will start at 6:00 p.m. and the program at 7:00 p.m.

Our guest speaker is Brother David Anderson, newly-elected President of the Anderson County Branch of the NAACP. His speech is titled, “Has Dr. King’s Dream become a Reality?” Oak Valley members are invited to bring your favorite “soul food” dish to share with our members and friends. The Hospitality Committee will prepare food as well.

Transportation will be provided for Senior Adults desiring to attend the dinner and program. You may leave a message on the church phone (865) 483-5162 or contact Deacon William Harris for pick-up. This community outreach effort is open to the public and free of charge. Persons needing transportation may contact the church office at 865 483-5162.

Prayer Meeting – Saturday Mornings at 7:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to continue participating in our early Morning Prayer Meetings on Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. We gather in the sanctuary and then dismiss to personal prayer areas as guided by the Spirit.

Prayer Line Members who are unable to join us at the church are invited to join us by prayer line on Saturdays at 8:15 a.m. To participate, please call 712-432-8399. When prompted, the access code is 746416.

KBDA Women’s Ministry – District in White The Women’s Ministry of the Knoxville District Baptist Association, Inc. will host their annual “District in White” service on Sunday, January 29th at 6:00 p.m. at New Covenant Baptist Church, 10319 Starkey Lane, Knoxville, TN. The guest speaker is Rev. Vivian Hill and music will be provided by the OVBC’s Voices of Praise. Everyone is invited to attend. Additional information is on the bulletin board in the vestibule.

OVBC Officers and Ministry Leaders On Saturday, February 4th at 9:00 a.m. all Oak Valley officers and Ministry Leaders are asked to attend an Orientation Class for Church Leaders to be held in the Fellowship Hall. Also, a Consecration ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 5th for our Leadership team. Your support is greatly appreciated and more information will be shared soon.

Joint Leadership Team to meet – January 19th Members of the joint leadership team will meet on Thursday, January 19th at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. 2017 Resurrection – Jan. 20th - 22nd Attention Parents of high school students! All high school students are invited to participate in the “2017 Resurrection” event to be held in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg on Friday, January 20 – 22, 2017. This spiritual opportunity is a time for learning and fellowship with other youth from this area. Youth will have an opportunity to stay overnight with fellow Emerald Youth students in Gatlinburg. Maddox Day” On Sunday, January 22nd at 6:00 p.m., the Knoxville District Baptist Association, Inc. will celebrate “Joe B. Maddox Day” as the newly elected President of the Tennessee Baptist Missionary & Educational Convention, Inc. The service will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2137 MLK, Jr., Avenue, Knoxville. Public Notice for OVBC End of Year Business Meeting

Monday, January 23, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to officially conduct business of Oak Valley. We plan to vote on the new Constitution and Bylaws for Oak Valley. All OVBC voting members are asked to attend to insure a quorum and to vote on motions.

CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS of Oak Valley Baptist Church ARTICLE 8

CHURCH BUSINESS MEETINGS Section 1 - To transact its business, the Church will hold an Annual Business Meeting on the fourth Monday in January, Regular Business Meetings in April and August, the first Church Planning Meeting on the second Saturday in October, and the second Planning Meeting on the first Saturday in December. The Church fiscal year begins on January 1 and ends December 31. The scope of the meetings shall be determined by the Pastor and Board of Directors. Section 5 - Quorum: Fifteen percent (15%) of the members in good standing, qualified voters, shall constitute a quorum. A majority of such quorum present and voting at the Annual, Regular, or Special Business Meeting shall be sufficient to decide any quest presented, unless otherwise provided by this constitution. Two-thirds (2/3) of the Board of Directors shall constitute a quorum for the Annual Planning Meetings and shall be sufficient to decide any quest presented at the meetings.

Section 6 - Qualification of Voters: Members in good standing (attending services regularly

and making regular financial contributions) and are 18-years or older are eligible to vote as

stated in Article 3, Section 7(a).
