Utilize a mechanical spine to arrange the program. This mechanical spine will feed subsequents spaces and become the base and centerpiece of the school’s plan and linear arrangement.

Design a musuem and lodge at Fort Ancient, a nearby earthworks of the Hopewell people and archaelogical treasure.

Create a complex that allows the site to remain relatively untouched. Add viewing opportunities without taking away from the natural beauty or archealogical integrity of the earthen mounds.

Place two sculptural buildings outside of the sacred space creating by the mounds, nesting into the earth and extending the plane, creating new viewing platforms and opportunities.

Bringing together architects, doctors, and city officials, create a plan to eliminate asthma triggers from the lower income housing stock. Imagine a mobile, module unit as the centerpiece of this scheme.

The comprehensive plan proposes a family of modular units that can be deployed to provide a clean environment for children in schools, at home and in the hospital.

The smallest module is designed to attach to or be set into a classroom of the local school. The unit is serviced by its own air fi ltration system, serving as a clean air oasis for students coping with asthma symptoms. Rather than missing school because of asthma, students would actually perceive school as a refuge for relief from their symptoms.

This larger module serves as a temporary home for a family while their house or apartment is being cleansed of any asthma triggers. Installed in the front yard or on the street in front of the house, this unit has facilities for cooking, eating, sleeping, and bathing, with suffi cient space to accommodate four to six people. When renovations and/or fumigations are complete, the unit is purifi ed and moved to the next home in need. Dislocation of the family is kept to a minimum.

A much larger unit serves as an expanded asthma care center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. This would be the headquarters for community outreach, offering workshops and educational materials to affected families. The similarity of design amongst the three units helps to brand the issue of asthma, heightening awareness of the health epidemic and offering visible and tangible evidence that the problem is being addressed.

5after construction, the modules are ready to be deployed. trucks deliver the modules to fi rst site and the family moves into the unit temporarily. 6

when the family has moved out, the house is prepped for service. the amount of time the family will be out of their home varied depending on whether the house is being fumigated, remediated for mold, or having evelope repairs such as new siding or re-reoofi ng. 7

once the work is complete, the family moves back into their home. with the enviromental triggers removed, the children with asthma will have reduced hospitalization for severe asthma attacks. 8

the module is loaded back onto the truck and delivered to the next home that requires repairs.

Work with the Kroger design team to imagine what the future of convenience store design might look like.

Looking at social, cultural, and retails trends, the studio identified five main design trends: interaction, experience, transparency, accountability, and localization. From these trends, designs were proposed based on an urban, suburban, highway , or mobile site.

Working on a highway site, my proposal centered around the idea of a convenience store as a wonderland, an oasis from a long, monotonous drive. Catering to children or adults wanting to stretch their legs, this wonderland would be more than simply a place to stop and refill.
