ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING First Baptist Richardson

February 24th, 2019 | 6:30PM

Church Family,

2018 was a good year at First Baptist Richardson.

We expanded our work in missions to include serving at WildFlower! Festival, providing school supplies at Back Pack Bash, supplementing food with Food for Families, and a monthly missions opportunity called, “Love Local.”

We also expanded our small groups discipleship ministry, starting several new small groups and Sunday School classes.

We gave over $1.2 million to our Give to Grow Campaign, which, so far, has resulted in a 20% growth in Worship East (our Contemporary Worship Service), a new Sunday morning Children’s Worship Experience, and a 6% increase in Sunday Morning Atten-dance overall.

Our focus last year was on Jesus – we asked every member to passionately pursue Jesus.

In 2019, we want to continue with that theme, asking you to take the next step. The next step is to help someone else passionately pursue Jesus even as you continue to do the same.

In 2019, we want to see the focus of our church shift from learning to making, from at-tracting to deploying. What does that mean? We are going to focus on increasing your abilities, individually, to reproduce spiritually and make disciples. We want you to see how God intends to use you to be “the light” of Jesus to those around you.

If you didn’t grow up in church, “disciple-making” probably sounds like a strange word, but it simply means teaching someone else to follow Jesus like you follow Jesus. It’s the heart of the Great Commission – Jesus said, “go into all the world and make disciples, teaching them all the things I’ve taught you.”

What if, by the end of this year, you had at least one person you were teaching to follow Jesus? What if your small group had brought at least one new person to faith? What if your Sunday School class sent at least one person out to start a new Sunday School class? What if parents felt better equipped to make disciples of their kids? What if teenagers were challenged to disciple at least one friend at school?

2019 is the year where we will take “passionately pursue Jesus,” one step further and we will focus on helping someone else “passionately pursue Jesus.”

It’s going to be a great year!

Ellis Orozco, Senior Pastor

Spiritual Growth in our church can be seen clearly in themulti-generational worship created by Carols. This year, over 2,500 multi-generational worship created by Carols. This year, over 2,500 people were in attendance, and over 300 people of all ages served. Worship nights began this past summer at Communion Cafe, which has grown to regularly host over 300 people in the Richardson community, reaching over 1,000 people. Our Kid’s Worship service has grown considerably and now involves many of our students, who have the opportunity to disciple and love those who are young in spirit and new to faith. Our church thrives based on the interacin spirit and new to faith. Our church thrives based on the interac-tions between generations, and we praise God for the opporunity to worship together as children of Jesus, no matter our age.
