The Boggavarapu Foundation has been providing outstanding children with cash awards who

secured ranks in their respective grades. This is a great incentive for children as well as

encouraging and inspiring to continue to do well in school. We conduct annual reward ceremonies

every year. A detailed report has been sent to all our sponsors for the 2007-2008 school year.

I like to share the good news of our children’s academic success. In 2008-2009 academic year, we

supported around 600 children. Out of them, we had 5 children who wrote the 10th

grade public

examinations. All 5 of them passed in first division. We are very happy for their success. Below is a detailed report on each child who appeared and passed the SSC exams.

Rajesh Sivakoti from Tuni, East Godavari district, AP, India. Rajesh is from a very poor background. He lost his father due to Aids disease. His father used to work as an

attender in M.R.O Office on contract basis. His mother, a single parent is now taking care of Rajesh and Lakshmi

(sister of Rajesh) by selling Vegetables. The money she gets from selling vegetables is only enough for the basic living needs. She is unable to afford educational expenses. He completed his high school education at Apollo

English Medium School in Tuni. We are thankful to KAMAL BOLLEMPALLI from Madison, Wisconsin, USA. Who supported this child all these

years till 10th grade. We are now looking for a sponsor to support his Intermediate education. He will be a candidate for IIT. We found a good college for him and it would cost US $500 per year. We invite any one to help this child.

David belongs to one of the families of Nizamapatnam who was affected during Tsunami in 2005. Since

then, we have been supporting this child. SUSAN CARSON of Silver Spring, Maryland, USA is the

sponsor of this child and extended her support to help him for his junior college. We are very thankful

to her for the educational support she is providing to her sponsored child.

Israel Danduprolu from Nizamapatnam, Guntur district, AP, India.

This child is from a very poor family. Father lost his small boat during the Tsunami disaster. Since then, father works on petty jobs, fishing related. Mother works in the fields and also does some other small jobs in the fishing

harbor. BALAKRISHNA & MADHURI from Hyderabad supported this child

till 10th grade. We are thankful to them for their support all these years. He now wants to become an engineer. We are looking for a sponsor to support this child for his junior college. It will cost US $400 per year. We invite any one who is interested to help this child.

Sudhir Doddi from Visakhapatnam, AP, India.

Sudhir’s father died of cancer. They run a roadside shop selling

cigarettes and pan for survival. Other family members have a lot of

medical expenses. Because of that, they spend a lot of money on his medicines. The income is not enough to take care of the family expenses or education. SWAS group

in USA supported this child till 10th

grade.

SWAS group consists of a group of engineering students from India, who studied together and has come up

in life very well. Because of their success in life and eagerness to help the underprivileged, they formed this

group. When we asked them what SWAS is? These are the words they mailed us. “We , the engineering

friends came together after a hiatus and came together for a good cause, to do something for our society

and hence the name "SWAS" , a fresh breath of air. . SWAS group consists of Suresh Ediga from New

Jersey, Chandrakant Rai from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Prasad Musunuru from Frisco, Texas,

Prasanna Ramsagar from Farmington Hills, Michigan, Raghu Kiran Potluri from Richardson, Texas,

Vasanth Vemula from Sunnyvale, California. We welcome this group of good people who are already

making a difference in children’s lives by providing education.

We are waiting for a decision from SWAS group for college help for this child. If they decide not to,

we will open this child’s profile for help on our website.

Krishna Sudha Lanke from Nizamapatnam, Guntur district, AP, India.

Krishna Sudha belongs to the fisherman community. She is an orphan child. Lost both of the parents at a

young age. Father died with heart attack and mother died in 2005 because of cancer. This child is

currently staying with grand parents who are very old and unable to support this child.

VEDABALAJI KUMAR GORIPARTHI from Lodi, New Jersey, USA supported this child till

high school. He extended his support to help her with her college education also.

From LKG – 10th

Grade, we have 124 children who secured ranks (first, second and third ranks in their

respective grades at their schools). Most of them secured 90% plus in their annual exams. We will be

rewarding these children with cash awards and certificates in a public ceremony to be held in 2010 during

Sam & Rena’s visit to India. We also have 10 children who failed. We are giving them a second chance to

study again. If they fail the second time, we will discontinue our help and give another child the same

chance.
