Family Literacy Children’s Program

Trained volunteer tutors work one-on-one with children who can’t read, read below their grade level, or want to improve their reading and writing skills

Programs are offered for local elementary schools, pre-schools, agencies, and daycare centers

Adult Literacy Program

Trained volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with adults who can’t read, learn differently, have learning disabilities, or want to improve their reading skills

Classes are provided for the Hamilton City ABLE Program, Sojourner, Dove House, YWCA Residence Programs, and Southwestern Ohio Serenity Hall

Hope and Rescue

YWCA Literacy Program staff work with teen parents enrolled in the Hamilton City School Hope and Rescue Program

Teens are taught literacy-related activities that they can do with their children to improve their children’s reading skills

Adult Computer and Employment Training Program

YWCA Literacy Program staff teach basic computer skills

Target audience includes displaced workers and the elderly

Skills taught include internet searching and Microsoft Word and Excel
