The Session met on Tues., Aug 21 and the following

business was conducted:

Clerk’s Report - Approval of Session minutes. Communion

was served to 107 on Aug 12. A Baptism for Samantha Mills was approved to be performed at Norman B Barr Camp on Aug. 19.

Committee Reports

Finance - A verbal report was presented by Bob Winter. An IRS letter was being addressed and progress is being made on Per Capita giving.

Membership - Currently reviewing members, per capita letters have all gone out.

Mission - Many school supplies were donated and Twin Oaks Homeless Shelter was so appreciative, they couldn’t help their residents without us! The Tree House for Children has also thanked us for our dona-tions to their mission as well.

Personnel - request was made to approve an agreement for a shared accompanist role. 5 individuals have ap-plied for the music ministry coordinator position.

Rummage - So many drop offs have made it necessary to get storage units (we now have 7). Due to the over-flow and the lower number of volunteers we have to start very early for set-up this year. Thurs., Sept 13th the tables will start to come into fellowship hall, then on Sunday, Sept 16th we hope to have help moving some items into the East End of the building. Sunday, Sept. 23 will be the full move into the church building.

Worship & Music - Microphone issues have been re-paired, the projector bulb refund is coming. Sundays have been going well, Baptism on July 1st, VBS Sunday went well. Choir will sing Sept. 9 & 16 with rehearsals starting Aug. 30. Praise team is working with Laura Hodges and Karen Kramer with music selections. Michele Moore will be new director of Linn Ringers. Colleen has a new book of Children’s music, hoping to get choir going in September. Men’s Choir will be on Sun., Sept. 30.

Libby shared information from Personnel regarding Mu-sic Ministry Coordinator.

Youth & Family Ministries - Picnic plans—no bounce house, will have volleyball, chalk, bubbles, hula hoop target games, ice cream sundaes. Trunk or treat is planned for Oct. 28 from 4-5 pm. Kids will sing in

Session Highlights church Nov. 11 and Dec. 16. Middle School Wednes-days will be added this year from 4-5:15 pm. LinnKids start Wed., Sept 5. High School students will meet monthly for community events including service projects. MOPS will start in January and Sun-day School teacher assignments have been made. New teachers always welcome!

Building and Grounds - Replaced one window crank in Sanctuary. With the help of Foremost Elec-tric the lights in the Sanctuary have been replaced with LED lamps that have an estimated life of 22 years. Grounds work: mailbox attached to new light pole, possible video camera to be placed at the shed, Rick Bromeland (our mowing contractor) cut down two trees by the burn pile, weed whipped many garden areas, removed some dead branches. Mission sign has been renovated (thanks to Don Brockman). Items to do: more window crank replacements, replacing Fluo-rescent light ballasts, burn pile request is still in at the fire station, pumps in the utility room have still not been replaced and some parking lot cracks will need to be repaired in the fall.

2020Vision - Bob Winter said that all 202 projects for the fall have been accomplished and some funds are remaining.

Deacon’s report - Treasurers report –balance $684.15 - Cakes were taken care of this spring, cards have been mailed to those with birthdays, get well, graduated, sympathy and thinking of you. Memorial service for Margaret Firestone was hosted on May 19th. Requests have been made about providing rides to church. There was a discussion about possibly having another fundraiser. They only have Chili Cook-off which goes to the Holiday Mission. Should we start care packages for the homebound?

“God’s Promise: I Am With You”

PW Bible Study, Starting Tues., Sept. 11th at 1:30 p.m.

In nine lessons, this study traces God’s recurring promise of pres-ence from Genesis through the Gospels—from the beginning to the end of the age. God’s “I am with you” promise is spoken in varied

circumstances and to many different people throughout scripture. Some instances may be quite familiar, while others might surprise you.

Throughout this study, participants will reflect on how the promise of God’s presence speaks beyond the pages of the Bible, to their own circumstances. Indi-vidually and as a community, we will be encouraged to both see and seek God’s presence with us in the ex-traordinary and the ordinary experiences of our lives.

The author of Hebrews asserts, God “has said, ‘I will never leave you or forsake you’” (Heb. 13:5). This study will confirm that God has, indeed, made and kept that very promise, again and again.

Join us on Tuesdays starting September 11th at 1:30 p.m. Call Helen for more info 262-740-1321.

Are you on Facebook? ~ Make sure to “Like” Linn Church

Liking us on Facebook helps you see what is going on here at church. It also gives you the ability to share information with others that are your “friends”. This will help share our activities and promote our church. Bring a friend to church, share our information on Facebook and more people will

see how Pastor Terry’s Sermons inspires us in our daily lives.

What Stewardship IS NOT:

A once a year event

All about money

Fund raising

Meeting a budget

Just about us

What Stewardship IS:

About making choices, as individuals and in a com-

munity

More than giving money to

our Church

About being faithful disci-ples, caring for and man-

aging all God has given us

A commitment of time, abilities, material re-

sources and influence

Treasure management that helps us escape the trap of selfishness by keeping ourselves fo-

cused on God

The grateful response to

Christ’s redeeming love.

Stewardship Sunday

October 28, 2018

Do you LOVE Flowers? We are in need of a new person to coordinate the flowers in the sanctuary for Sunday Worship. They could be flowers from your garden or from others who wish you help out as well! Sue Larkin and Nancy Newcomb have been doing this for many years and Ruth Ann Bey-ers and Bill Grunow prior to them. We appreciate the many beau-tiful arrangements over the years. Would you like to provide ar-rangements once in a while? Or Coordinate the project? Let Pas-

tor Terry or the office know!

Would you like to Support our Local Hunger Walk? We are looking for a coordinator to build the support here at Linn Church.

Contact Pastor Terry or the church office for more info.

Lap Blanket Workshop ~ Tues., Oct. 2, 9-11 am Come and work with other church members and Aurora Hospice volunteers to tie fleece lap blan-

kets for area veterans that are in Hospice.

No experience required - Bring Scissors!

See you Tues., Oct. 2 at 9:00 a.m.

"We Want YOU to Make a Joyful Sound!" That's right. YOU! No, not the person next to you... (well to be honest we want them too), but YOU- reading this message right now! We want you to come and make a joyful sound with us in the Sanctuary Choir! You can do it! Don't be shy, come and give us a try! I know what you are thinking, that you aren't sure if you really want to com-mit to a weekly rehearsal AND singing twice a month. I know... I've heard it all before, but just come and give us a try! You have nothing

to lose and we have such a good time!

Everyone and anyone is welcome! No experience necessary! Just a song in your heart and a desire to praise God and glorify His Name through music! Choir rehearsals are on Thursdays at 7:00pm and the first Sunday we sing is on Sept. 9th. I hope to see as many of you

as possible there! If you have any questions, please contact me!

Blessings, Kim May, 262- 903-1419, [email protected]

This next month our Deacons are hosting the All Church Pic-

nic on Sunday, September 9th after worship. We hope every-one can stay after church that day and enjoy some games,

food and fellowship with other church members.

Our church deacons serve our church in many ways through-out the year; they co-ordinate and host Perk n’ Pour for al-most all Sundays, they serve lunch when asked for all funer-

als, they organize, wrap and deliver gifts at Christmas along with food at both Thanksgiving and Christmas for local families in need. They prepare and serve Communion, they send monthly greeting cards for birthdays, thinking of you and sympathy. They also donate to

Twin Oaks Homeless Shelter, Agape house and also to our Youth Mission Trip.

They do all of this, and more with proceeds from the October Chili Cook-off and a few dona-

tions from funerals . We appreciate the endless work that our Linn Church Deacons do!
