Waste Auditing Program

• Electronic waste scale is currently being wired inside the loading bay, to be in functioning order shortly

Pocket Lounge - Sustainability

• To reflect sustainability history in British Columbia, especially on UBC campus

AMS Composting Program

• In-vessel composting machine to be inside the loading bay by the end of this summer

• Vermicomposting (worm composting) should be continued in collaboration with the Rooftop Garden

AMS Sustainability Centre

• Will feature display pieces such as the Sustainability Dashboard, as well as material for themes and programs as they are developed

• To serve as both an educational resource centre as well as a centre for student engagement in sustainability

• The goal is to set a solid programming and administrative plan by the opening in January

Building Energy Monitoring

• The plan is to create a simple-to-use energy monitoring system to be displayed on the Sustainability Dashboard

• This will provide students with knowledge on their usage, as well as provide auditable data

Sustainable Packaging

• As we move into the AMS Student Nest, there will be increased opportunities to reduce the waste we produce, and to close the loop on as much waste as possible by involving the composting program

• The goal is to have completely recyclable or compostable packaging material for all food outlets

Summary

• All categories will be worked on either directly or indirectly

• Many projects will be in place for rollout with the opening of the AMS Student Nest

• A heavy focus is placed upon building interactions and student engagement for this year

• New projects and programs may be developed as the year progresses!
