ANNUAL QUALITY ASSURANCE REPORT (AQAR) OF THE AQAC FOR THE
YEAR 2018-2019
NAME OF THE INSTITUTION: S.P.M.H KALASALA, MACHILIPATNAM, AP
PROFILE OF THE COLLEGE:
Machilipatnam is semi urban area situated in Krishna district, 70 km away from
Vijayawada. It s the district head quarter and has always been a hub of educational activity
since the independence days. It is also a historically important place with a port of that
attracted British, French, Portuguese and Dutch traders in the pre- independent era.
When this institution was started there was no separate Degree college for women in nearby
town. The Management deemed it and quite necessary to have a college, catering solely for
girl students. Keeping this view, the former secretary and Correspondent of The Hindu
College Machilipatnam sowed the seed of Shree Padmavathi Mahila Hindu Kalasala. Since
then, the college has been incessantly spreading the light of education to many girl students
drawn from surrounding rural areas, who were earlier deprived of this.
INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES:
The college has a one acres of land with compound wall. The college has well furnished class
rooms, well equipped 5 laboratories, a seminar hall, Botany, and Zoology museums, free
internet facility, E-class room carrier guidance cell with 50 computers, a mini gym,
APSSDC Centre, Mukyamantri Yuvanestam centre and a playground.
FACULTY:
College has 12 departments, 5 are in science and 7 are in Arts and in commerce stream. The
institution has 9 permanent teachers supported by 11 contract faculties. Out of 8 permanent
teachers 2 are Ph.D. holders 2 have M. Phil. Degree and two are pursuing Ph. D programme
supported by 7 non-teaching staff.

The college offers 6 UG programs in BA, B.Com. & B.Sc. out of 6 two programs are on self
financing basis.
NAAC ASSESSMENT:
Accredited by NAAC with B grade in the 2007.

In order to work towards realizing the goals of the institution and to develop a system of
conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of the institution an

PLAN OF ACTION CHALKED OUT BY THE IQAC IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR
TOWARDS QUALITY ENHANCEMENT.
The First meeting of the IQAC was held on 4-4-2018 to discuss about the activities to be
conducted for the year 2018-19. The following are the action plan to be taken by the IQAC.
1. To prepare academic calendar
2. To participate in seminars and presentations of papers
3. To publish papers in journals
4. To prepare students to in the effective use of technology like internet
5. To conduct national and international seminars in our college
6. To cater the needs of slow learners through Remedial coaching classes

&International conference to update their Knowledge
9. Providing students with opportunities to encourage in meaningful co-curricular
activities
10. To impart Career guidance and Counseling to outgoing students
11. Adoption students by Ward counseling
12. To motivate students to participate in community development and extension activities
like NSS/ Aids Awareness Programme/ Red Ribbon Club/ Red Cross / Eco
club/Consumer Club/ sports and Games best practices.

1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:
To fulfill the vision and mission of the institution various activities have been taken up by
improving the quality of teaching. The IQAC of the college monitors the academic and
administrative activities for quality sustenance and enhancement.

subjects, updating their knowledge and skills and interact with the academic

As the affiliated College to Krishna University, Shree Padmavathi Mahila Degree College
Follows the guidelines laid by the University. In this respect interdisciplinary aspects are
Introduced by university while framing the curriculum of Arts, Science and Commerce
subjects.

All the examination reforms initiated by the Krishna University are followed by our
college. However, the Institution conducts monthly, I Mid, II Mid of I, II, III, IV, V and VI
semesters UG students to evaluate the performance of students.

2. On 21st June 2018 International Yoga Day was celebrated by inviting Yoga Master
from Machilipatnam
3. On 24th July, 2018, I & II Year 100 students joined as volunteers in N.S.S. Unit and
the Unit was inaugurated by our Principal, Dr. T. Malathi Rekha. As a part of this
function, a clean and green programme was successfully conducted in the college
campus.
4. On the Eve of World Blood Donors day Student Volunteers donated blood with the
collaboration of Dr. Pattabhi Red Cross Society.
5. Every month of third Saturday, we are conducting “Janma Bhoomi” (Clean and
Green) in our college campus under the guidance of the Programme Officer and Asst.

6. From 1st July to September 10th, 2018, Vana Mahotsavam conducted at our college
premises in which 30 saplings were planted and adopted them to the NSS Volunteers.
7. On 29th July, 2018, we have conducted “Vanam-Manam” Programme in our college
premises in which 30 saplings were planted in and around of our college campus
8. On 29th July, 2018, conducted an awareness programme by vowing pledge on Anti-
Ragging and conducted Essay writing and Elocution competitions.
9. On 15th August 2018, all the N.S.S. Volunteers participated in the Independence Day
celebrations at our college campus. On the Eve of Independence day, Student
Volunteers donated blood with the collaboration of Dr. Pattabhi Red Cross Society.
10. The World Peace Day was celebrated on 21st September, 2018 NSS Volunteers have
taken a collective oath of world peace which is followed by a rally in the town.
11. On 23rd September, 2018 we have celebrated Birth Celebrations of Andhra Kesari,
Sri. Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu. On the occasion of this programme we have
conducted Elocution and Essay writing Competitions.
12. On the eve of National N.S.S. Day on 24th September, 2018 our volunteers conducted
a rally in the town in view of bringing awareness in public about clean and green
programme. Dr. K. Rajamanikyam, Programme Officer organized NSS Day
Celebrations by conducting Essay writing and Elocution competitions.
13. A communal Harmony day was conducted on 2nd October, 2018 in order to inculcate
a spirit of communion and harmony among people.
14. On 31st October, 2018 the National Integration Day was celebrated to create
awareness on the values of integrity and unity in the Nation.
15. On 1st December, 2018 conducted Rally on “The World AIDS Day” our volunteers
participated in the rally with a view to bring awareness to the public and complete
eradication of AIDS.

16. On 10th December, 2018 the World Human Rights Day was celebrated by inviting
Sri. P. R. Rajeev, Distict Judge, DLSA, Machilipatnam, Sri. K. Sai Mohan Rao,
President, Bar Association, Machilipatnam and Sri. G. Musalaiah, Advocate,
Machilipatnam had addressed the volunteers on the “Women Rights” refer to Need
for the empowerment of human rights with proper educational growth and progress of
the nation.
17. On 25th January, 2019 an oath vowed with a motto to spread the significance of
National Voters Day.
18. The Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January, 2019, all N.S.S. Volunteers
gathered at our college with a true patriotism and National fervor.
19. On the occasion of Yuvakeratalu-2019, Conducted by Kollu Foundation,
Machilipatnam NSS volunteers rendered their services and Dr. K. Rajamanikyam,
NSS Programme Officer, acted as Judge for Elocution and Essay Writing
Competitions on 28-1-2019, 29-1-2019 at The Hindu College Campus.
20. On the occasion of Machilipatnam Port Opening by our Honorable Chief Minister,
Sri. Nara Chandra Babu Naidu garu, all our college staff and NSS Volunteers, NSS
Programme Officers have participated and rendered their services to the public.

19 college was started a new UG course in B. Sc i.e. B. Sc Computers.

for each course as per the requirement.

with APSSDC.
4. In this MOU APSSDC provide more number of computers and Television sets.

This year as a part of academic curriculum Students and faculty of the Economics,
Commerce visited Jewellary Park at Pothepalli, Chemistry and Physics departments visited
ISRO Space week program organized at Gudlavallu. Students and faculty of Botany
department visited nurseries at Tenneru. The students of Zoology department were visited
Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam. The college organized excursion for three
days from 13-02-2019 to 15-02-2019 to Visakhapatnam and Araku.
The college has conducted an Awareness programme on Women Rights by District Legal
Services Authority -Machilipatnam on 10-12-2018.
Red Cross, Red Ribbon and Women Development Cell are very active in the College.
Smt. G. Mary Krupa Bai is in-charge of these activities. The College magazine reflects the
skills of the students and is going to be released by our beloved Secretary &Correspondent
Sri D. Gopala Krishna Sastry Garu. The students are representing the college at university,
state and National level. This academic year (2018-2019) 100 students from I&II Year degree
courses joined in NSS and participated in different activities under the guidance of
programme officer Dr. K. Rajamanikyam, Lecturer in English. National Library week
celebrations were conducted during Nov-2018 and competitions were held different activities
for the students. The college is continuing the activities that were started in previous years.

On occasion of Fresher’s day celebrations several activities were organized such as cultural
