Dear Onslow Community Ministries Supporter,
We would like to thank everyone who helped us through the challenging times in 2008 at Onslow Community Ministries.
In 2008, our programs experienced an increase in services. More people than ever utilized our services whether it was the Soup Kitchen which served over 95,000 meals, the homeless shelter that experienced an increase in bed nights, which means that residents had to stay longer to obtain employment and save for deposits for rent and utilities, the Caring Community Clinic that had over 3,000 visits from patients and over $600,000 was dispensed in medicine or Christmas Cheer that distributed to over 5,000 needy people in our community toys and food.
As we always have for 19 years, we will continue to fulfill our mission but continued support will be needed from this giving caring community. As the need for our programs grows we have seen a drastic downturn in donations.
We are continuing to seek other sources of funding such as the Oktoberfest in October. Even with the rain we managed to have a successful event. We have already set a date for 2009, October 24 at the Riverwalk Park.
With your support of Onslow Community Ministries and their programs, we will continue to play a vital role in our community. Warmest Regards,
Sandra Wyrick
Executive Director

Caren Appreciates the Clinic
When Caren moved to North Carolina, she discovered that she was not going to have medical insurance. In Georgia, Caren qualified for a special program which provided her medical coverage, this program does not exist in North Carolina. Caren is diabetic and has high blood pressure. She requires regular check-ups and expensive medicine. If it wasn’t for the Caring
Community Clinic, Caren would have to go without this much needed medicine. The Caring Community Clinic has changed Caren’s life.
Thank you to the following restaurants who donated meals to feed our staff and volunteers:

A CHRISTMAS CHEER STORY
Chanya is the mother of six children ages 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 9 and recently her husband was injured on the job. Expenses have been mounting and if it wasn’t for the Christmas Cheer program, her family would not be celebrating Christmas. Thanks to this program, each child will get 4 or 5 toys and they will have plenty of food to enjoy a wonderful Christmas meal. The Christmas Cheer program changed their lives for the better.
Thank you Christmas Cheer Coordinator, Linda Fountain for your tireless effort and dedication to Christmas
Cheer.
