The SAB of Memon Professional Forum was formed in November 22nd 2000 the purpose of formation of the board was to get benefit from the experience of the former Presidents of the Forum and other eminent Professionals of the community and to keep a harmony in the planning and performance of the Forum. SAB is a constitutional body consists of not more than 12 immediate past Presidents of the Forum. Members of the Board appoint chairman and Hon. Gen. Secretary of the Board amongst themselves except incumbent MPF President and Hon. Gen Secretary.

From the desk of President: Dear Members, Assalam O Aalaikum, I am pleased to share with you the activities of MPF and the events held during the year 2010-2011. The conferences and seminars held during this tenure became eminent due to the presence of various admirable personalities, which resulted in acquiring quality information. It feels immense pleasure to share that one of our major achievements was to shift our office from Shahrah-e-Faisal to DHA. The intention behind shifting the premises was to raise the standards of our Forum, and I am sure every step taken by our managing committee during this period will certainly support our future prospects in the long run. Various conferences, mini conferences, seminars, workshops, networking lunch, and many other activities were held throughout the year, which kept the forum lively and full of spirit; the highlight being “Marketing and Branding Summit” which was a huge success. Various renowned personalities like Prof. Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman and professionals from diverse fields and interests shared their valuable experiences with the audience. On the whole, it has been an exhilarating year in the recent times of MPF. With this circulation, my term as President-MPF has been completed; and on this occasion, I acknowledge each and everyone who have rendered their relentless services for MPF. My special thanks to all my Office Bearers for their valuable cooperation throughout the year, i.e. Dr. Khalid Bhambha, Mr. Faraz Bandukda, Ms. Farzana Munaf, Mr. Jawwad Shekha and Mr. Junaid Aba Ali. I am particularly thankful to my dearest friends Engr. Pervez Abubaker and Mr. Muhammad Zubair for their enormous support throughout the year. From the Desk of Honorary Secretary General AssalamuAlaikum I am honored and pleased to present the annual audited accounts of the Memon Professional Forum for its 26th year. I further take this opportunity to thank the President Mr. Asif Ismail Magroria for his highly motivated tenure as well as taking a number of bold steps to enhance the image of MPF and taking it to new heights never seen before. From day one, objective of the president was clear to involve all the team members i.e. the office bearers and the Managing Committee members as well as the past presidents and general members and lay foundation for a stronger representation of MPF in the society and social circles across various disciplines. I feel immense delight in stating that the whole of managing committee participated in the uplift of MPF image by holding different events and programs. A number of different activities were held during the year managed and organized by the Managing Committee. Programs conducted during the year related to different disciplines and highlighted the diverse nature of the membership of MPF. The year rolled on with 2 mini conferences, one each on medical practices and on engineering and architecture. Both the mini conferences attracted a sizable audience and were termed highly successful and informative by the participants across the board. In order to honor the achievements of Memon Youth in the field of education, a program was conducted where all the memons completing their professional education in the past 8 years were honored and presented with a memento as a token of appreciation and achievement. The event also helped in presenting the MPF to the Memon youth and attracted a number of new membership requests for the forum. During the year 2 more programs of the MPF academy were conducted at the MPF office. The first of the two programs was aimed at enhancing the communication and negotiation skills and was highly appreciated by all participants. I thank Mr. Nizar Noorali Bhulani for conducting this program voluntarily for us. The second MPF academy program was conducted by Mr. Payaam.H.Siddiqui on a very innovative and emerging topic of neuro linguistic programming. The speaker highlighted the use of NLP and how it can be used in our daily lives to improve quality of life. I also thank Mr. Payaam.H.Siddiqui for his support to MPF and conducting the program on a voluntary basis. It was during this year that the MPF magazine was launched by the NETWORK. A quarterly magazine by its period, NETWORK magazine aims to highlight the activities of MPF as well as provide literary articles contributed by members for publication in the magazine. The first issue of the magazine was published in the month of May 2011 and was appreciated by all. We have finalized the work for the second issue of the magazine and Insha’Allah the next issue shall be made available to you very soon.

Continuing on the high trends set by the previous office bearers and the works initiated then, the current team continued with the efforts. The medical committee which had undertaken the task of uniting all Memon hospitals of Karachi under one umbrella was continued with full vigor and regular meetings were held in this regard resulting in fruitful outcomes for various hospitals across Karachi. The year was marked by full day branding and marketing summit held at the Marriot hotel on May 28, 2011. The program was attended by key business personnel and top management of large corporate organizations. Keynote speech was given by Dr. Ata ur Rehman. The event was jointly organized by Nutshell events. This year marked the shifting of the MPF office from Shahrah-e-Faisal to Khayaban-e-Rahat Defence. The previous office due to its limited capacity was certainly not coping with the ever increasing requirements of MPF and therefore with the vision and efforts of the President, the dream of a new highly equipped larger office was brought to life and the new office premises was purchased. The office is located in a peaceful area of defence with ample parking space for visitors with an eye soothing view all around. The office was inaugurated by our past presidents Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Billoo and Mr. Abdur Razzak Thaplawala. The office is equipped with modern facilities and has been developed keeping in minds the needs of professional activities conducted by MPF. In the end, I would like to thank the entire managing committee, the past presidents, all members of the forum, office bearers and the President for their whole hearted support during the year. I congratulate each and every one of you for witnessing another successful year of our MPF journey. I am further expressing my gratitude for the support from the managing committee, past presidents, past office bearers, current office bearers and all the members of MPF. I specially thank the office secretariat Mr. Hashim Hussain and Mr. Amin Dharani for their continuous contributions towards the uplift of the forum and managing all proceedings with utmost care and diligence. I would conclude my communication with a special thanks to Mr. Asif Ismail, President of MPF for his guidance, leadership and support throughout the year and above all my heartfelt appreciation for Mr. Pervez Abubaker, past president of MPF for his never ending support and untiring efforts for the Forum. During my tenure I have learned considerably from the supervision of my seniors and their experiences. PERFOMANCE REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2010-2011

Memon Professional Forum (MPF), which came into existence in January 1985, is a prestigious body of Professionals belonging to Memon Community. Today the Forum‘s membership comprises over eight hundred professionals, most of whom occupy eminent positions in their respective field in Pakistan and abroad as well. One of the main objectives of the Forum is to cultivate and promote the sprit of the Unity, cooperation and mutual understanding and assistance among Memon Professionals and bring them together on a united platform. The united platform of MPF works and provides an organization for educational, Professional and economic uplift of its members, in particulars and Memon Community in general. It also makes efforts for preserving and achieving due recognition of the rights and status of its members in every walk of life. To executive its plan and policies in a professional manner, a Managing Committee (MC) is elected biannually by the members of the Forum. As per Constitution of the Forum, the Managing Committee normally consists of professionals from various disciplines. The MC members are further grouped to form various sub committees. Mini Engineering Conference held on 29th Oct 2010 At Institute of Engineers in Pakistan Seminar Hall Shahrah-e-Faisal

Program Timeline Registration of Guest started from 4.30 pm and after Namaz-e Asar, the proceedings started with recitation from Holy Quran by Qari Salman Ahmed son of Mr. Gul Ahmed Mayari. Architect Shareesh Khalid conducted the proceedings as an Anchor person. She welcomed the distinguished guests on behalf of Memon Professional Forum. The Mini Engineering was organized by MPF in coordination with Institute of Engineers in Pakistan (IEP) and Association of Consulting Engineers Pakistan (ACEP), the theme of the conference was “SAFETY IN BUILDINGS”. While welcoming the Guests, MPF President Mr. Asif Ismail highlighted the activities of the Activities MPF and aims and objectives of holding the conference with subject of “ Safety in buildings” with the hope that after attending the conference some of us would definitely be able to take up it into priority considerations., he also appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee of Engn. Mr. Pervez Abubaker, Mr. M. Saleem Rangoonwala and Mr. Gul Ahmed Mayari for their untiring efforts for making the present event successful. After the Maghreb prayer break, the proceedings started with the first speaker Architect Mr. Mukhtar Hussain Executive Director M/s. FNMH Architecture. Mr. Mukhtar Hussain did his masters from METU Ankara in 1972. Unfortunately Mr. Mukhtar Hussain could not attend the conference for being out of Country so Arch. Faisal Bilwany presented his paper on the topic “Safety in Buildings”. Architect Mukhtar Hussain highlighted the Various Factors while planning Buildings design. The essential factors are Natural Factors: Earth Quakes, Storms & Floods. Accidental Factors: Fire Planning & Layout, Direction & Emergency signs and safety awareness. Intentional Factors: Vanddism, Terrorism and War. He suggested in the end under the topic “What can be done”

The next speaker who took the floor was Dr. S.M. Shahid Alam, Director M/s Exponents Engineers Dr. Alam has an experience of 26 years. He obtains his Doctorate from Nagoy University, Japan in 1993. He has been the member of Academic Council of NED University since last 13 years Dr. Alam presented his paper on the topic “Safety in Structural Design”. Then followed by Panel Discussion. Moderator Arch Gul Ahmed Mayari invited the Panelist to join him in the panel discussion Were Engr. Siddique Essa, Engr. Arif Qassim from ACEP Arch. Saleem Thariani. Various Questions forwarded by the attendance was elaborately replied by the panel of experts on different matter of Safety in buildings, structural design and safety factors.

After the panel discussion the second session started with the Speaker Mr. Yousuf Hassan Chief executive M/s. Y.H. Associates. Mr. Hussian is a consulting Engineer with 40 years

Practical experience at his credit. He presented his paper on “Safety against Fire Mechanical

Design with help of charts and graphs he explain the importance of various measures to be taken into consideration while designing the buildings plan. The last speaker of the day was Mr. Roland Dsouza Partner & Principal Electrical Consultant M/s. Fahim, Nanji, & Desouza (FND). He did his BE Electrical in 1973. He has been associated with different famous projects such as MCB building, SSGC building Etc. He explained with help of charts and slides the importance of electrical designs In the last session panel discussion was anchored by Engineer Mr. Pervez Ababuker. He Invited the other panelist as under Engr. Naeem Ilyas Khanani, Engr. Rland Desouza, Mr. Anwar Sadat of ACEP, Engr. Siddiqu Essa to come on the Dias to join the panel discussion. The last session Lasted for 45 minutes in which various question put forward by the attendance was Elaborately answered by the expert panelists.

All the Office Bearers of MPF were invited to join on the stage for the mementos distribution Ceremony. All the speakers and Sponsors were awarded with the mementos. Architect Saleem Thariani was invited on the stage to sum up the proceeding. He appreciated The efforts of MPF for organizing such an important event and requested the audience to put in practice the safety measures In the end MPF Hon. The Program was held on Saturday 4th Dec.2010 from 4.45 pm till 10.00pm at The Auditorium of the Liaquat National Hospital Stadium Road, Karachi. The registration of the Guests and Students startarted exactly at 4.45 pm. Mr. Mohsin Adhi and Ms Sumera Muhammad conducted the program as Master of Ceremony. The main objective of the Forum are to promote professional education, unity, cooperation and mutual understanding amongst the Memon Professionals on a United platform. Accordingly students who have obtained their professional Degrees from the years 2002 to 2010 were invited thru Invitation cards to attend the program. The Program started with recitation from the Holy Quran by Qari Salman Ahmed Mayari followed welcome address by the President Mr. Asif Ismail. He welcomed the distinguished Guests, Students and their Parents and congratulated them for obtaining The Professional degrees. The purpose of the MPF is to promote professional education and this program is to honor the students who are now stepping into their practical life in the field of their professional education. After the speech of the President, proceeding concluded for Maghreb Prayer. After the Maghreb Prayer the proceeding started at 6.10 pm with distribution of shields to the students. All MPF past presidents were invited on the dais to award the shields to the batch of students who registered their presence in the first phase. M/s. Hanif Janoo, Mr. Ashraf Bawany, Engr.Saleem Rangoonwala, Mr. AW Tejani gave the Plaque to the Students. To introduce of MPF and their activities new Documentary was shown to the Guests. Registration of participants started at 10.00 am and proceeding began at 11.00 am with recitation from Holy Quran Mr. Salman Ahmed. Mr. Mohsin Adhi, convener Medical Committee MPF welcomes the distinguished guests and invited President MPF, Mr. Asif Ismail for inaugural speech. Mr. Asif Ismail in his speech welcomes the distinguished Guest and wished to the participants Happy New Year. He briefly introduced the MPF and appreciated the efforts Medical Committee for organizing this Conference. He specially mentioned the untiring efforts of Engr. Pervez Abubaker, Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Mr. Mohsin Adhi and Dr. M. Khalid Bhambha for organizing this conference. He also thanked to The Sponsors of the Conference M/s. Getz Pharma, Premier Cables Pvt. Ltd, Patel Hospital and Tabba Heart Institute for providing moral and financial support for the conference. He stated that providing Quality Health care at affordable price at Memon Hospitals is a noble job. Presently 20% of Bed Occupancy Facilities are provided by Memon Hospitals in Karachi. MPF is proud that notable persons like Dr. Prof. A. Ghaffar Billoo and Dr. Prof. Iqbal Memon are their members. Memon Community is a business community; it has established scores of Medical Facilities not serving only Memons but entire cross-section of the Karachi citizens.

The Third speaker of the day was Dr. Muhammad Tufail, FRCS Medical Director Patel Hospital presented his paper on “Cost Effectiveness” investing in modern Technologies. This was a very useful and important speech for the management of the Hospitals. The Fourth Speaker was Dr. Salman Faridi, Medical Director Liaquat National Hospital Karachi. The topic was “Minimum Quality Standards” to be maintained for Hospitals. Dr. Salman explained with the help of multimedia slides the different aspects of the Standards adopted in the hospital. The Last topic of the conference was Panel Discussion of experts and open Question Answer session. Dr. Muhammad Tufail Moderator of this session invited the following exerts to participate in the Panel discussion. Dr. Prof. Idrees Edhi, Dr.Ashraf Ebrahim, Dr. Bashir Hanif and Dr. Khalid Iqbal. APMF Exhibition Stall at Expo Centre, Karachi

All Pakistan Memon Federation organized an Exhibition by the name “Vision of Prosperity” at Karachi Expo Centre on 12th, 13th and 14 March 2011. A grace full inauguration ceremony was held on 10th March 2011 at Governor of Sindh House, Karachi. Large number of business tycoons, key personalities of Memon Community and prestigious

citizens besides the Government Officials and the Exhibitors were present in the inauguration Ceremony. Mr. Ahmed Chinnoy President All Pakistan Memon Federation in his welcome Address said that Memon Community is fully participating in building the Economy of Pakistan and working hard for the prosperity and welfare of the People of the country, besides his prominent role in the Economic sector, Memon Community is playing important role in the social welfare sector too. Currently they Running 100 educational institutions and 35 Medical Hospitals in the country. Dr. Ishtratul Ebad Hon. Governor of Sindh in his speech lauded the role of the Memon Community in Nation Building activities in the Country. MPF participated in the Exhibition. We were allotted stall No.208 in Hall No. 4, in the vicinity of other Memon Organizations like APMF, WMO, MMI, And MITI. Formal inauguration was performed at Expo Centre by the Hon. Dy. Speaker of Sindh Assembly Mohtarama Shella Raza. She went around all the exhibitors Stall with President and Members of APMF. She also visited our MPF stall and inquired about the working of MPF. Our stall was decorated with back-drop & LCD. Colorful Broachers was also distributed to all the visitors of the stall. “Communication Skills” Held on 31st March 2011 at MPF Office

Professional Development Committee organized the lively work shop on the topic “Communication Skills” at MPF Office on Thursday 31st March 2011. MPF Academy of Individual Development announced holding of Seminar on NLP the new technology of Achievements 31st July 2011. The response to the announcement was very encouraging. FORMAL OPENING OF MEMON PROFESSIONAL FORUM NEW OFFI CE PREMISES

4th September 2011 was the day when Memon Processional Forum had an inauguration of its new office at 4th Floor, Exclusive Trade Centre, Khayaban-e-Rahat, Phase VI - DHA, Karachi. The session was started with Tilawat-e-Kalam Pak by Mr. Mohsin Adhi, while Ms. Sumera Muhammad initiated the formal session by calling up President Mr. Asif Ismail for his comments on this occasion. Mr. Asif Ismail informed the audience that the main reason for the shifting of office is to have better presentation and to raise the standards of MPF. He also appreciated the services of all four architects, Mr. Faisal Bilwani, Mr. Gul Ahmed Mayari, Mr. Saleem Rangoonwala, and particularly Mr. Pervez Abubaker. He acknowledged the services of Mr. Muhammad Zubair, which he rendered during the Marketing and Branding Summit. Mr. Asif appreciated Mr. Saleem Rangoonwala for activating MPF Academy and hoped that he will continue his efforts in future as well. Ms. Sumera then called upon Mr. Pervez Abubaker to say few words and call upon two most senior Past Presidents of the Forum Mr. Adbul Razzak Thaplawala and Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Billoo. Both of these senior past presidents congratulated MPF President Mr. Asif Ismail and his team for this successful achievement and for shifting of office from Shahrah-e-Faisal to DHA, and they prayed for the prosperity of the Forum in the upcoming years. Dr. Billoo shared his dream of MPF House and quoted this opening of the new office as a step towards the direction of MPF House. Hon. Secretary Mr. Faraz Bandukda concluded the session with the thanks to all the past presidents including Mr. Abdul Razzak Thaplawala, Prof. Dr. Adbul Ghaffar Billoo, Prof. Dr. Iqbal Memon, Mr. Abdul Qadir Memon, Mr. Abdul Wahid Tejani, Mr. Ashraf Bawany, Mr. Saleem Rangoonwala, Mr. Hanif Jakhura, Mr. Yunus Bandukda, Mr. Muhammad Zubair, Mr. Pervez Abubaker. Election Commissioner of MPF for the past 5-6 years; House unanimously appreciated his services

and requested Mr. Muhammad Yakoob Kapadia to continue his services as an Election

Commissioner of MPF.


ANY OTHER MATTER WITH THE PERMISSION OF CHAIR

Mr. Ashraf Bawany Ex-President of the Forum while speaking on the occasion lauded the efforts of

the outgoing Office Bearers and members of the Managing Committee. Mr. Ashraf pointed out that

the Forum has completed its 25 years; its by-laws were framed 25 year ago, now it’s a high time to

revisit it and make amendments to meet the changes and challenges to the society. Further he

pointed out that our MC is composed of 24 members, which is too big to handle and maintain

unanimity. He cited the example of the limited company, where maximum 8 to 10 Directors run the

affairs of the company. He further suggested that attendance details of MC members must be

made part of the annual report. Every member must know about the contribution of each member

of the Committee during the term. His proposal was appreciated and accepted for the

incorporation for the upcoming years.

Engr. Pervez Abubaker while summing up the year review offered his sincere thanks to all the MC

members for their support and contribution in the activities of the MPF during the year.

Mr. Pervez informed the house that Electronic Communications with the Members thru SMS and

Email was introduce this year and continuously maintained the contact thru this media. This

remains a very quick and cost saving media.

He said our focus was to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the MPF and maintained constant contacts

with the Past Presidents. The record numbers of six meetings of Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) in a

year was a major success, as this is the platform, which enables the MPF to have continuity in

policies and boosts the moral of the MC.

He further stated that they conducted several program during the year with seminars on Team

Buildings, Conflict Management, Entrepreneurship and Importance of Life Insurance and Mini

conference on Islamic Banking.

Another milestone of the year was the revitalization of MPF Academy, where two Courses were

offered. The first was 12 lectures of Art of Communications with the trainer Mr. Tamiur Sabih

conducted these sessions was well attended and another 16 hrs workshop on Personal

Effectiveness with Mr. Abbas Hussain. Mr. Saleem Rangoonwala deserves appreciation for his key

role in these programs.

The most innovative achievement of the year was Formation of Medical Group of Memon

Hospitals. The medical committee will continue for a period of 5 years. He appreciated the services

and cooperation of Dr. Muhammad Tufail in formation of this group. The purpose of the group is to

enhance the quality of services in the Memon Hospitals.

In order to increase the networking within the community and members two gatherings were

(Chairman, CPLC) and Mr. Abdul Rahim Suriya (President, ICAP) and Second at Karahi Golf Club on

Dinner with Community Leaders through the platform of “MPF Vision Ahead”.

The major milestone was holding of Entrepreneurship 2010. This revenue generating Event has

now become a trade mark of MPF. The entire team of conference committee was appreciated for

their marathon efforts under the chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Hanif Jakhura along with the

leadership of Mr. Muhammad Hanif Janoo. He specially extended thanks to Mr. Arif Habib, Mr.

Shahzad Dada, Rafiq Rangoonwala, Mr. Ashraf Bawany, Mr. Muhammed Zubair, Mr. Mehmood

Parekh for their continuous supports.

At the end of the speech, Engineer Pervez Abubaker appreciated the efforts and thanks to Mr.

Mohsin Adhi for his support and guidance throughout the year. He also thanked Mr. Mushtaq

Ahmed Madraswala, Ms. Sumer Muhammed, Mr. Aamir Iqbal Motiwala and Mr. Iqbal Gaba for

their supportive role and backing on all events.

Mr. Mohsin Adhi Hon. Secretary General offered his sincere thanks to Mr. Pervez Abubaker, Mr.

After the vote of thanks by the president and Hon. Secretary General, the Election

Commissioner Mr Yakoob Kapadia was requested to Chair the House and to hold the
