MBCT is engaged in transforming lives of the people in 187

Villages in Fatehgarh Sahib District of Punjab through various

pioneering initiatives including bringing medical health care to

the villagers’ doorsteps, empowering the girls and youth through

literacy and skills development programmes, and engaging them

in meaningful social development endeavours in their respective

communities; combating critical health issuess; improving sanitation

and hygiene; and grooming children in hockey.

AJIT SINGH CHATHA, President (IAS Retd.)I feel blessed to be a part of MBCT, giving me the opportunity to see how the people’s lives get

transformed if they are guided with compassion, cared and groomed with appropriate skills

training, making their lives become useful and meaningful for them and for the society. Over

the years, MBCT has become a part of the people’s lives in Fatehgarh Sahib District, and I feel

humbled to see the people’s joy in discovering their potential to have a fulfilling life.

HASSAN SINGH MEJIE, MANAGING TRUSTEERural transformation is an ongoing challenge in our country and though over the years MBCT

has been able to address the issuess of health, ageing population, unemployment, general

unhygiene and insanitation conditions, we are now working to make it sustainable through

radical transformation. The empowerment of women has already showing result with their

families benefitting, children going to schools and in another decade, perhaps, the transformation

should be visible in this area. And we look forward to people’s participation to support our efforts.

MAJ. GEN. SURAT SINGH SANDHU, TRUSTEERural transformation is a process of comprehensive societal change whereby rural societies

explore innovative and diverse ways to improve their economies instead of just depending upon

basic agriculture and diary. With the technological advances, and new techniques available

MBCT is not only empowering the women and youth in the villages of Fatehgarh but also sowing

the seeds of thinking out of the box and engaging them in exploring newer opportunities that

can change their lives.

SARBDEEP SINGH RAI, TRUSTEEHealthy population lays the foundation of a healthy society, and MBCT was pioneer in this region

to begin its journey of social service through medical camps which continue to reach out to a large

population in the District of Fatehgarh Sahib. The contribution of PGI’s Department of Public

Health had been tremendous in these endeavours as also of many other doctors who joined hands

to improve the health of the populace. I’m sure people would learn to maintain healthy lifestyle

and avail of MBCT’s health services at their doorsteps through expert medical advice.

Skilling Womenfor a brighter future Har Haath Hunar, Har Ghar Khushi

MBCT, since its inception, had an avowed objective to empower women, who had

remained tied to their hearths. Young girls dropped out of school for various reasons,

the primary one being the patriarchal mind-set of the people to keep them engaged in

domestic chores only. Education was their least priority and making them work was

taboo. This barrier is broken as has the faith of the people grown over years of service by

MBCT.

MBCT has shown them the way and brought girls to its well-equipped Centre in Bassi

Pathana, to teach them newer skills and make them self reliant.
