A private, nonprofit, educational organization established in 1825, the Connecticut Historical Society is the state’s official historical society and one of the oldest in the nation. The Connecticut Historical Society’s museum, library and Edgar F. Waterman Research Center house a collection that includes more than 4 million manuscripts, graphics, books, artifacts, and other historical materials. The Connecticut Historical Society is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees with the consent of our Members, and is managed and operated by a team of staff and volunteers.
