Dear Friend and Supporter,

Take a moment to put yourself in the shoes of a child who has experienced betrayal, physical or sexual abuse and emotional manipulation… That describes many of the children whom Alliance For Children serves on a day-to-day basis. Now, consider the environment necessary for that child to build a sense of trust and experience the security necessary to process their pain. As families walk through the doors of Alliance For Children, we want them to experience safety, care and love so they can RESCUE HOPE, RESTORE TRUST and REBUILD their LIVES.

COVID-19 has created unprecedented issues around the world, and while this pandemic creates uncertainty for all of us, none are more greatly impacted by this uncertainty than children. This is especially true for children in situations where abuse and assault are normalized. The shelter-in-place orders have statistically dropped the number of reports of child abuse throughout the country. Yet, we know that for many children being at home is not a safe environment. We know that the removal of protective adults such as teachers and other professionals caused a lack of adults who could ensure safety and make a report. Still, we had over 2,000 children walk through the doors of Alliance For Children this fiscal year seeking protection and justice.

With the renewed gradual access to “normal” activities in 2021, we are seeing children disclosing abuse endured during 2020 and beyond. There is currently a high demand for care and services. With that said, the expansion of our ability to serve every child and their family is critical to the continued health and prosperity of Tarrant County children.

Thankfully, we see the fruit of our multidisciplinary team’s work in our community. We see the resilience of children and the value of our services to their families. Since 1992, we’ve been able to rejoice over the thousands of stories of children healing from trauma. We also rejoice over the faithful financial and volunteer support of our local advocates. So, let us say thank you for your support and encourage you to continue your generosity toward Tarrant County child abuse victims in one of the most pivotal years in history.
