Brainware University, Annual Report 2018-19
Introduction
Established in 2016 as a unitary, state private
university by the West Bengal Act XXXI of 2015,
Brainware University has a strong commitment to
excellence in teaching and social outreach that
made the university a role-model and trendsetter for
other universities. Sprawling over a large eco-friendly
campus at Barasat, in the district of North 24
Paraganas, West Bengal, the university is just 15 km
away from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
International Airport, Kolkata.
Within a brief span of years, the university has made
remarkable progress in disseminating quality
education and placement opportunities to the career
aspirants in diverse fields of study. Equipped with
the world-class infrastructure, high-tech
laboratories, eco-friendly campus, the university has
been successfully providing career counselling and
placement assistance to our scholars ever since its
inception, and has effortlessly found a space in the
Bengal academia.
The curriculum is mapped with the industry
requirements, assisting our candidates to become
job-ready. The growth dynamics of the technology
and ever-changing demands of the business
landscapes inspired the formulation of
research- and industry-intensive learning strategy for
our students to enhance their lateral-thinking,
problem-solving and innovative acumen. The
programmes drafted for all the subjects are finely
integrated with the industry requirements and
provide our students intensive exposure to the
industry operations, as they are acclimatised with
the corporate culture. Brainware University prioritizes
students' welfare through knowledge and skill
empowerment so that they make a successful
journey from the campus to the corporate world,
and brave the business competition with
confidence.
-
Vision

society and students by promoting quality education
and research facilities. It will bridge the gap between
academic intellect and professional proficiencies by
making the approach to education more analytical,
thorough, job-oriented, skill-based and as per
industry requirements. It will also enable the students
to pursue higher studies through research based
activities and contribute towards an all-encompassing
development of the nation.

Our Inspiration
Sabita Devi
The source of strength and stimulus behind
all our endeavors is Sabita Devi, who faced
the unfortunate and tragic reality of
widowhood at the tender age of 28. Yet,
overcoming all societal and mental hurdles,
she started working as a single mother
when such concepts were practically
unheard of. She bequeathed her unflinching
spirit of mind and body as the legacy to her
son, Phalguni Mookhopadhayay, the
Managing Trustee of Sabita Devi Education
Trust, a non-profit charitable trust founded in
her memory. The aim of the Trust is to bring
quality education within the reach of the
ambitious students from all strata of society
and promote higher and professional
education in India. Brainware's dream
venture Brainware University is a homage to
Sabita Devi's fortitude and determination.

Brainware University, Annual Report 2018-19
The Honourable Chancellor
Mr. Phalguni Mookhopadhayay
Phalguni Mookhopadhayay has been
instrumental for past 29 years in making
quality education affordable for over 1.7 lakh
students, coming from different segments of
society and helped them achieve success in
careers of their choice. In 2016,
Mookhopadhayay started Brainware
University at Barasat, as one of the best
private universities in West Bengal, by
providing world-class infrastructure, skillful
teachers, comprehensive pre-placement
training, soft-skill grooming, effective
placement division, a pan-India network of
clients and consultants, and emphasizing on
academics and disciplines. Students' welfare
has always been his priority. He aspired to
take the technical education a step forward
and wanted to bridge the gap between the
conventional educational system and growing
expectation of the new trend of education.
He devised a three-step training module that
hones students' aptitude, English and
business communication, and HR skills.
Moreover, he ensured that the students get
hands-on training, internships, opportunities
to work on Live Business Projects and get a
chance to interact with the corporate leaders
to prepare them for better placements.
Mr Mookhopadhayay has set up a world-
class library infrastructure which houses a
digital repository of previous years' question
papers, project reports, and government
reports and in addition to it, the print versions
to facilitate the students to access, read and
download the educational content from
anywhere and at anytime. In his commitment
for developing students' deeper engagement
with the industry, this educational strategist
provides a synergetic learning environment
that is beneficial to all the stakeholders--the
students could expand their horizons and
skills, the university becomes an intermediate
platform between the industry and the young
talents, and the corporates recruit a pool of
talented employees. Mookhopadhayay has
set up a career and employability
development and talent incubation division to
promote intellection and grooming of the
young, determined brains, and ignite in their
minds a raw entrepreneurial spirit leading to a
holistic development of their skills that help
them to succeed in their chosen fields.
