INTRODUCTION

Tshumisano Trust was established in 2003 by DST Started with 3 Technology Stations to 15 currently The Technology Station are hosted by UOTs The programme is funded by DST to offer support for

SMEs by facilitating Technology Transfer and Innovation TSP draws strength from its partnerships with

UOTs,GTZ,IDC,SABS,SEDA, Private sector and other institutions in the NSI

Currently the programme has migrated into TIA with other DST entities

Objectives of the Institutes of Advanced Tooling

Integrative Approach to Tooling by looking at the whole lifecycle in the Tooling Manufacturing:

From Design Production Tool Recycling

Economic Growth through enhanced competitiveness of SME’s in terms of:

Design and formulation of curricula for knowledge driven advancement of scares skills (Designers, Toolmakers, IT)

Objectives of the Internship Programme

• Ensure graduate students are more employable through empowering them with practical work experiences with industry related projects;

• Ensure that candidates of designated groups be encouraged to partake in critical fields of Science, Engineering and Technology which includes post graduate levels;

• Address challenges inherent in Human Capital Development in the field of science, engineering, and Technology; and

• Involve a greater number of M-Tech and D-Tech students in the hope of increasing research activity.

• Ensure that students get experiential learning with an opportunity to receive their National Diploma certificates

Way forward for TSP

The business of the Trust was transferred to the

TIA as a going concern on the 1st of April 2010

The result would be that the existing rights and

obligations of the Trust were taken over by TIA

All assets and liabilities were taken over by TIA

at the carrying values as of the 1st of April 2010
