Annual Report IIMSR 2017-18

Brief History of IIMSR

Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (IIMS&R) is affiliated to Integral

University, Lucknow and is approved by Government of India and Medical Council of India,

New Delhi. IIMS&R is a hi-tech 500+ bedded hospital, fully furnished with advanced

facilities and managed by highly qualified medical staff. It has 22 departments besides

Emergency & Trauma Care Unit.

The first batch of hundred students has completed MBBS and is doing internship. Currently

we have applied for Post Graduate (MD/MS) courses in some pre & Para clinical

departments. It has one of the best medical facilities and diagnostics in Lucknow at

subsidized rates. The charity work done by the hospital benefits the poor section of the

society. Free consultation and free medicine are provided. The registration fee for a patient is

a token amount of Re. 1/- valid for a period of 15 days.

The teaching and training program of the institute is managed by following

During the academic year, Medical Education Unit developed a competency-based

curriculum with the following objectives:

▪ Competent clinician to practice preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative

medicine in respect to the commonly encountered health problems in an individual at

the primary, secondary or tertiary levels.

▪ Competent in diagnosis and management of common health problems of the

community.

▪ Competent communicator with patients, families, community and members of Health

team and other service providers.

▪ Professional with all the attributes of a good citizen and committed to provide services

maintaining high standard of professional ethics and also be responsive and

accountable to the patient, community and the profession.

▪ Self-directed learning (SDL) by students under strict supervision and guidance of

faculty members.

▪ System of formative evaluation for teaching/learning methodologies.

▪ Competence based clinical teaching for educating the students to communicate with

patients, colleagues and family.

▪ Learning natural history of disease, cause, process and effect of different agents on

health of individual and also practice evidence based medicine (EBM).

i. Community services and training to expose the students to real life situations of health

and diseases prevailing in a family in rural and urban setting and their management.

ii. In the Rural setting: - A Complex of Community health center pattern (RHTC) is

developed at Sansarpur about 14 kms from IIMS&R. Around 10 villages are earmarked

and field survey is under process.

iii. Urban Health Center (UHTC) at Sarvodaya Nagar, Lucknow about 12 kms from

IIMS&R, which is being used for training, research, and community health.

Existing Infrastructure & Facilities:-

Facilities like state of the art Modular OT complex with 9 OTs, fully equipped ICU, MICU,

SICU, NICU, modem machinery for Digital X-rays, CT Scan, 2D Echo, Ventilator Facility,

Laparoscopy, Ultrasound & other investigations and Blood Bank facility are being provided

at minimal charges to make healthcare facilities more accessible and affordable for the

patients from under-privileged families.

Highlights of major achievements of various departments during 2017-18.

Department of Medical Education Unit

• Revised Basic Course Workshop in Medical Education Technologies from 23rd to 25th January

2018 involving 30 participants.

Department of Biochemistry

• One Ph. D Degree Awarded

Department of Microbiology

• Started new investigations like ELISA & PCR.

• 11 students were awarded M.Sc. (Medical Microbiology) degree.

• CME on WHO Global hand hygiene day on 5th of May, 2018

Department of Community Medicine

• Conduction of 3rd sensitization workshop on HIV for nursing students. (Aug, 2017)

• Conduction of Health Check-up camp of employees in IIMSR( Feb, 2018)

• State level function on World AIDS day, 1st December, 2017 in collaboration with UPSACS.

• World Health Day Quiz competition (7th April 2018)

• Poster competition of MBBS undergraduates (20th January 2018)

• Conduction of Journal clubs, Seminars, CME and case presentations in department

• Establishment of ICTC through institutional collaboration with state government (UPSACS)

• Installation of BERA and OAE for better assessment of hearing screening and diagnosis and

• Organized a surgical workshop on KERATOPLASTY, “THE RAY OF LIGHT”

• Nine successful corneal transplantations were done.

• Academic workshop in association with ALCON on TORIC IOL, “WAY TO EAGLE

VISION”

• Successful collaboration with EYE BANK, KGMU, Lucknow

• Initiation of HOTA certification of the institute to start corneal transplantation
