A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT

Our Board President Fellow Island School Supporters,

This year has been a year of new beginnings at The Island School, with well-known teachers in new classrooms and roles, and brand new teachers joining our ranks, as well as new Board members, new students and so many new families coming into our community. It’s been exciting to watch and I’m thrilled we all get to be a part of it together.

For the past nine years, The Island School has been an integral part of our family’s life. My wife and I fell in love with the place the minute we walked through its red doors, felt the energy and saw the love for each and every student that radiated throughout the building. Our son, Josh, graduated a few years ago, and our daughter, Emily, is in the midst of building Lego City in Jenn’s 3rd grade class right now. The sheer joy of learning shines through every day, and we’re all lucky to have such a wonderful school in our lives.

The kind of education our school provides would not be possible without the generous support of families and friends like you. As a current parent, alumni parent and Board President, I ask you to join me in supporting our school’s Annual Fund and our unwavering commitment to serving the academic, social and emotional needs of all of its students.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL

Our Head of SchoolDear Families and Friends of The Island School,

One of the best parts of being Head of School is sharing our school with visitors. I recently toured a group from a Bellevue independent school that is in the process of updating their facility and adding a space similar to Webster Hall. As they walked our halls, their admiration shone through:

“The space is so thoughtfully designed for kids this age.”

“There’s so much natural light.”

“Faculty must love teaching in spaces like these.”

“The hallways are also great places for learning.”

I could fill this page with glowing remarks about the beauty and function of our building, but the one that captured it best was, “This is a magical place for learning.”

And that is exactly what The Island School provides – a positively magical atmosphere in which teachers can do their best teaching and children can learn with joy. The setting plus the people make the positive culture of the school so tangible that newcomers immediately feel it upon entering our school.

People like you create the shared magic our students and teachers experience. You give, and in doing so, you support the growth and learning that happen daily at The Island School. You make so much possible. I will probably never find words to fully express how deeply grateful I am to each and every one of you, but I will continue to try.
