About Universal Educational Society:-

Established since the year 2008, Universal Educational Society; a society fully registered

under the Society Registration Act (XXI of 1860) strives to become a Centre of Excellence in

the field of Skill development and technical Education by offering specially designed

programmes of skill development for the student community especially to those belonging to

minority. The institution envisages producing quality workforce with higher technical

proficiency for the best of family, community and country at large. Society is located in lush

green area of 30 acres to promote technical and engineering education in the backward area

To develop the society as the Centre of Excellence in the field of Skill development

and technical Education by equipping it with the latest infrastructure facilities and

make its colleges fit to achieve NBA accreditation.

Goal of Society:

Offers latest curriculum consistent to the needs of industry and provides skill based

training as stipulated by the Punjab State Board of Technical Education & IT, Punjab.

Promotes Industry-Institute interaction for training and ensuring better placements of

its students.

Cultivates the spirit of creativity & innovation among students and staff to always

remain at the cutting edge of technology and management practices.

Offers training to economically backward rural youth in various fields for the purpose

of self-employment through various development schemes.

Provides equal access and opportunities to the physically challenged persons and

other socially backward groups of the society.

To help in the education and training of the poor, sick, disabled and socially backward

UES other activities:

UIET NSS Unit organised a showcase of NSS Activities on 12 April 2017at Universal

Institute of Engineering & Technology, Lalru in which approx 250 students participated.

The National Service Scheme was started by Government of India, Ministry of Education and

Culture, Govt. of India, in Collaboration with State Government in the year 1969 in 37

selected Universities. Mumbai University has been participating in the scheme right from its

inception. At present the scheme is run by the ministry of Youth Affairs camp; Sports in

Central Government and Department of Higher & Technical Education in State

Government.

We have an effervescent NSS unit in UIET which has been established with a rudimentary

objective of providing a dais for the interested students to partake in social work during their

free time. The report of the activities of the unit for the academic year 2016-17 has been a

record of accomplishments and triumphs.

Mr. Munish Kainth, NSS Officer highlighted the various activities through a presentation

which were held under the shadow of UIET NSS Unit on 12/04/2017. Dr. Swati Sharma-

Principal UIET, Head of departments, faculty members and students attended this

presentation. Principal UIET highly appreciated the efforts of NSS Unit and motivated to

organise as such events in near future.

Universal Group of Institution organised maiden Panel Discussion on Renewable Energy on

30-03-2017. The event started with the welcome note presented by Er. Saurabh Bali, AP CE

Deptt. UIET followed by the formal welcome address given by Dr. Swati Sharma, Principal

UIET for Dr. Poonam Syal, Associate Professor,Electrical Engineering Department, NITTTR

Sec26, Chandigarh and Mr. Sanjeev Kaul, HOD Civil Engineering Department, CCET Sec

26 Chandigarh. Sh. R.K. Kapoor, Principal UPC, Ms. Kshipra Gupta HOD CE Deptt,UIET,

Mr. Sanjeev Chopra, HOD ECE, UIET , Mr. Vikas Sharma, HOD Applied Science, UIET ,

Er.Ankit Chauhan, AP CE Deptt UIET were among the others dignitaries who graced the

occasion and participated in Panel Discussion. In this event approx. 100 students participated.

And looking on the demand and importance of the event, it was pledged to organise this

event every year.

Dr. Poonam Syal touches the various renewable energy sources such as sunlight, geothermal

heat, wind, tides, water and various forms of biomass. She further discussed various

Government schemes and their usage pattern. Mr. Sanjeev Kaul mainly foccussed on various

areas of Concrete Technology. Firstly, he discussed the optimum water cement ratio.

Secondly, he touched the design criteria’s. Moreover, he discussed the various projects and

its benefits.

Mechanical Engineering Department of Universal Institute of Engineering &

Technology celebrated World Water Day on 21st March, 2017 to highlight the importance of

freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

World Water Day is an international observance day. It is meant to inspire people around the

world to learn more about water-related issues, tell others about these issues and take action

to make a difference, particularly in countries.

Dr. Swati Sharma- Principal UIET also shared her valuable thoughts with the students on the

eve of this day. A Poster Making Competition was also organized with the same theme. It

was leaded by Asst. Prof Gaurav Grover, ME Department. 25 students participated in this

event. The creativity of the students was highly appreciated by Principal and HODs of

different departments. Top 3 Students of poster making competition were awarded with

certificates and gift by Principal UIET and HOD Mechanical Engineering. The programme

was ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Munish Kainth, COD Mechanical Engineering

Department.

Universal Group of Institution Celebrated International Women’s Day on 09-03-2017 with

the spirit of womanhood. The day was celebrated by organizing a seminar on theme for this

year: “Be bold for change”. The occasion was graced by Master Bikram S. Thapa who is 6 th

degree blackbelt. He enlightened the students on the importance of martial arts in our day to

day life. He motivated the students, especially girls to learn self defense.

The seminar was followed by a workshop on self defense. The students learned some basic

skills of kick boxing, Karate and taekwondo. At the end of the program, Ms. Prabhjot Kaur

Jolly, Director Academics and Dr. Swati Sharma, Principal UIET honored the guest and

thanked him for teaching self defense skills to students. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Chairman,

Universal Group of Institutions who has always been torch bearer in women empowerment

also appreciated the efforts put in by the faculty in organizing such workshop for students.

Department of applied science has celebrated national science day on 28th february 2017 in

Universal Group of Institution Campus. The purpose of its celebration was to make students

aware of importance of science in logical thinking. The celebrations are conducted in seminar

hall where posters were displayed regarding projects and inventions due to science, followed

by speeches in Hindi and English, along with cultural part including dancing ,singing and

play. Heavy number of participants approx 200 participated and got benefited from the event.

Universal Group of Education, Ballopur celebrated National Science Week on 23rd

febuarary

2017. The celebration was initiated by poster making competition before noon where students

from different streams i.e. B.A, B.Sc (agri) and B.Com, expressed their views in the form of

posters based on the theme "science".

The event was then followed by the declamation competition. The students expressed their

thoughts on relevant issues. In the post noon session, a special lecture was organised where

Prof. S.K Kansal, S.S Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and

Technology, Panjab University. Chandigarh delivered an expert lecture related to Science for

everyone. The seminar started with the lamp lightening ceremony and floral welcome of the

most valued invited guest by the Head of Institution Dr. L.K Attri, which was then followed

by the welcome note by Dr.L.K Attri where he felicitated the guest with his valuable words

and shared his views regarding the event. Total of 280 students participated.

Prof.S. K Kansal shared his worthy knowledge about environment related problems and Dr

Kansal highlighted the issues, causes, consequences and measures to curb the problem of

paddy straw burning and the facts related to the same. The winner students were awarded

with gifts. The celebration was wrapped up with concluding remarks by Dr. L.K Attri and a

Vote of thanks by Dr. Balbir Singh.

Universal Group of Institutions, Lalru Organised Innovation Summit- 2017 on 10th February,

2017 at 10 AM, Total of 90 participants were present in this event. The Theme of the summit

was "Recruitment, Innovation in Industry and Bridging Corporate with Academics".

Law Day was a organised in Universal Group of Institution, Ballopur, Lalru on 27-11-2016

which was presided by Justice Sh. Balbir Singh, District and Sessions Judge, Chandigarh.

The other dignitaries were Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Chairperson Universal Group of Institutions,

Ballopur, Lalru, Executive Director Mr. Amit Baruah, Registrar Dr. Modan Singh and

Principal Universal Law College Dr. Manpreet Grewal.

During the celebrations the Hon’ble Justice highlighted as to why Law Day is Celebrated and

congratulated students for choosing Law as a career. The Hon'ble Judge inaugurated Legal

Aid Clinic on this occasion. Total of 110 students were present in this event.

Universal Group of Institutions organized one Day Conference on the Theme "Gender

Equality & Women’s rights: Issues & Challenges"on 31/08/2016. Chief Guest of the day

was Ms. Reeta Kohli (Sr. Advocate Punjab & Haryana High Court Chd., Additional

Advocate General ) Guest of Honor was Prof. Charanjeet Kaur, (Punjabi University, Patiala)

Other Speaker Dr. Harleen Kaur (SMO, Derabassi). Total of 150 women participants were

present in this event.

Universal Group of Institutions organized Women Equality Day on 27-08-2016.The event

started at 2:30 pm in Seminar hall, UPC with an introduction about the event by Mr. Bipul,

student Electrical Engineering. Total of 70 participants were present in this event. In the

programme Mr. Bipul briefed the history of Women Equality Day which stated that in 1971

the US Congress designated August 26 as Women’s Equality Day. He also told that the date

was selected to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the

Constitution, granting women the right to vote. This was the culmination of a massive,

peaceful civil rights movement by women that had its formal beginnings in 1848 at the

world’s first women’s rights convention, in Seneca Falls, New York.

After that events like Debate, extempore, poster making were started in seminar hall at

different times. All the Heads of department were judges for all the events. The guest of

honour, Ms. Prabhjot Kaur, Principal UPC was welcomed and she addressed the students.

She appreciated the students who participated in different activities and presented prizes to

the winners. The winners of extempore, debate and poster making were Abhijeet Kumar

Mishra, Welson Bey and Raushan Kumar respectively all from Electrical Department.

Universal Group of Institution, Lalru has celebrated International Day of Biological

Diversity in collaboration with Punjab Biodiversity Board sponsored by National

Biodiversity Authority, Govt. of India on May 22, 2016 based upon theme ‘Mainstreaming

biodiversity; Sustaining People and their Livelihoods’. A total of 120 students participated in

this event. The event started with tree Plantation drive, where the Chief Guest, Dr Gurpreet

Singh (Chairman, UGI), Dr L.K. Attri (Convener), Key note speaker, Dr Archana Chauhan

(Panjab University, Chandigarh), special invitees Dr Jeesu Jaskaran Singh (Panjab

University, Chandigarh) and Dr Vishal Sharma (Panjab University, Chandigarh) along with

faculty members and students planted trees in the campus. Thereafter, Inaugural ceremony

was started at the Seminar Hall, where the Chief Guest, invited guests and head of the

institution (UCACS) performed the auspicious lightening of the lamp ceremony. The Chief

Guest was honoured with token of regard from convener and convener followed by floral

welcome to the invited guests. Dr. Gurpreet Singh (Chief Guest) talked about the importance

of the day and motivated the students for planting more trees and conserve biodiversity. Dr.

L.K. Attri talked about the event and awared the students about the history of the day. After

that, the technical session was started with the key note address by Dr. Archana Chauhan,

who explained the student about the mainstreaming biodiversity and how to conserve

biodiversity. Then special lectures on the occasion, were delivered by Dr. Vishal Sharma and

Mr. J.J. Singh, who enhanced the knowledge of mainstreaming biodiversity and sustaining

people by means of agriculture, horticulture, fishery, tourism etc. Meanwhile, the Poster

Making Competition was also held on the same theme and the best posters were awarded. As

many as 150 students and faculty members had participated in this daylong event.

The concluding remarks, at the end, a formal vote of thanks was delivered.

Universal Group of Institutions organised International Symposium on 7-03-2016. As many

as 46 Foreign Delegates from various counties visited the campus and participated in the

Symposium. The main objective of the symposium was to discuss about the quality in higher

education in emerging country & boost the Faculty & Student exchange Program.

Details of the Event:

Participating Countries are: Afghanistan, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Laos, Nepal, Sri Lanka,

Tajikistan, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Lesotho, Kenya, Thailand, Ghana, Togo, Bangladesh,

Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Uganda, South Africa, Sudan.

1) The event started with Lamp Lighting ceremony followed by floral and Tilak ceremony of

all the delegates.

2) On this occasion. Dr. Rishi Raj Singh, Director (Training UEPA) & Training The National

Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development came with the delegation. He

discussed various things in regards to higher Education and its implementation in India and

abroad. He put emphasis on the Faculty and student exchange program which helps in getting

new ideas and creativity.

3) Dr. Gurpreet Singh Chairman, Universal Group of Institutions, gave a warm to all the

delegates from different Countries and discussed with them the potential of higher education

in India.

4) Moreover, cultural event was presented by UGI students representing the cultural heritage

of India.

5) The motivational and inspiring address was delivered by Dr. Baljit Kapoor , Campus

Director, UGI

Bringing alive the entrepreneurial spirit of students, Placements Cell of Universal Group of

Institutions, Lalru invited experts from the National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC)

to the UGI campus on 23rd Feb.2016, Tuesday to guide final-year students who want to set

up their own ventures. 250 final-year students, who attended the seminar conducted by the

NSIC as part of its Entrepreneurship Orientation Programme, were provided access to NSIC

facilities for new start-ups, like finance, technical guidance, financial consultancy,

networking/marketing support and legal advice.In this occasion Chairman Dr. Gurpreet

Singh, delivered the welcome address in his speech. He emphasized that the youth

community should come forward for taking the risk of entrepreneurship. This will lead to

increase in employment opportunity in our nation. He also insisted that student community

should develop entrepreneurship skills while they are pursuing education at the college. This

kind of motivational and inspirational entrepreneurship program will reduce the rate of

poverty in our nation.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Dy. General Manager, NSIC inaugurated the entrepreneurship orientation

program and delivered the inaugural and key note address. In his address he raised the

question among the students “Why student should depend upon industry to provide an

employment?” Instead they shall find their own employment through entrepreneurship. He

emphasized that entrepreneurship begins with the intension to provide Employment for

others. He highlighted that NSIC plays a great role in developing such intension among the

Indian youth. Also NSIC provides the appropriate skill development and advices for

nurturing the entrepreneurship. He also clarified the delegates about selecting the resources

required for starting any business. Finally he ended up with highlighting the government

schemes available to the young entrepreneurs and also the ways through which they can avail

those opportunities to run a business successfully. He also emphasized on the financial

arrangements to start a new venture. Campus Director Dr. Baljeet Kapoor said in his speech

that interest on entrepreneurship is a right path way to get our nation into super power.

Student community should not only concentrate on employability skill but also concentrate

on entrepreneurship skill, this will increase their confidence.

Ms. Shweta Sharma, Dean- Planning & Admin of UGI, stressed about the role of small and

medium enterprises growth of Indian economy. So, youth community should concentrate on

SMEs investment. There are lots of opportunities in SMEs in the field of tourism, software,

food, textiles and horticulture industries. She emphasized that the student community should

make use of the opportunities with the help of NSIC to achieve full employment. In the end

Asst. TPO Mr. Ravi Pratap Singh gave a vote of thanks to the executives who came from

NSIC in order to deliver a workshop on Entrepreneurship Orientation Program.

The Health camps are organised by Nursing Department Universal Group of Institutes at

various Sub Centres of Civil Hospital, Derabassi on 03-12-2015 in which free medicines

were distributed to the patients as per doctor prescription. Total of 50 students were present

and a total of 100 plus local community people were served with medical checkups and

facilities.

UNIVERSAL COLLEGE, BALLOPUR in collaboration with Universal college of nursing

organized a one day NSS camp on Thursday, October 8, 2015. More than 100 volunteers

participated in the camp. The Camp was inaugurated by HOI Dr. L.K. Attri in the presence of

Director, UIET Dr. Vikas Dhawan, Principal(UPC) Dr.S.K.Sharma,Principal, Nursing & HOI

DSGCE by giving green signal. Programme Officer, Mr. Sunil Kumar (Asst. Prof.) with

faculty members initiated the NSS Camp. NSS volunteers went to the village

Ballopur by giving slogan ‘Not me but you’ , ‘Save Trees Save Environment’ ‘Jaaggo

Jaaggo Nashe Tyago’ & ‘Ik Rukh So Sukh’ etc. NSS volunteers went to diffrent houses in

the village and aware the people about the importance of sanitation and cleanliness. The

faculty members of college Mr. Dalip Kuamr, Ms. Punam Gupta, Mr. Kuldeep, Ms.

Manisha & Ms. Sonika etc have also supported the camp very well. NSS volunteers camped

at Govt. Middle School in the village and cleaned the areas of school along with school

children thereby motivated students to maintain the school campus.

After the cleanliness drive, free medical check up was organized by the college where a panel

of doctors, specialized in ENT & Dental, from Healing Touch Hospital, Ambala, have

checked the patient from the village. Meanwhile, refreshment to the NSS volunteers was also

given. The day long came end with various cultural activities performed by the NSS

volunteers. HOI, Dr. L.K. Attri address the NSS volunteers and lauded the efforts of the NSS

volunteers and infused them with zest and enthusiasm. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Chairman,

Universal Group of Institution, Lalru, appreciated the efforts of the students and promised to

promote, in future, such activities for the welfare of the society.
