From Our President…From Our President…From Our President…From Our President…

On behalf of all the members of the Tuckahoe School Foundation Board, I am pleased to update the community on the State of the Foundation. The Foundation has just completed its eleventh year of operation. We continue to focus on providing support for programs and events that enhance the learning experience of all Tuckahoe students, which would not otherwise be funded by the annual district budget. Over the past 11 years we have successfully raised funds that have resulted in the Foundation providing over $225,000 in grants and scholarships. We also continue to strive to increase our endowment, as it is our goal to fund larger and more far-reaching projects as well as continue to support teacher grants. This year we funded over $30,000 in teacher grants and student scholarships, including the funding of our joint project with the Generoso Pope Foundation to put SMART Boards in every classroom in all three schools. This past year I am proud to have been part of the team that brought the Rachel’s Challenge Pro-gram to our 5th through 12th graders. Co-funded with the Tuckahoe PTA, Rachel’s Challenge inspires, equips and empowers every person to create a permanent positive culture change in their school, business and community by starting a chain reaction of kindness and compas-sion. I am honored to have completed my first year serving as President of the Tuckahoe School Foundation after having served as Treasurer for four years. I wish to thank our previous President – Angela Chianese – for all of her support and encouragement this past year as well as the rest of the Foundation Board that I have the pleasure of working with. I would also like to recognize two of those board members who have recently tendered their resignations – Sheree Raho who has served the Foundation since its inception as well as on the Board of Education and our Superintendent of Schools – Dr Michael Yazurlo whose contributions over the past 13 years to our district are too numerous to list here. You both will be sorely missed. As we continue our mission of “Putting Tuckahoe Kids First”, we invite all of the community to join us at our 9th Annual Casino Night – “Club TSF”, on November 4, 2011 at Leewood Golf Club. This is our only fundraiser of the year so please mark it in your calendars for what promises to be a fun night of Dinner, Dancing & Gambling. Your continued support will assure our success!
