CPWD is the premier construction agency of the Government of India and plays a pivotal role in the construction programme of Government projects. Its activities are spread throughout the length and breadth of the country. It also undertakes the projects of Autonomous Bodies and Public Sector Undertakings as Deposit Works. Besides being the construction agency of the Government, it performs a regulatory function in setting the pace and programmes for the building industry in the country. The DG, CPWD also functions as Technical Advisor to the Government of India. CPWD executes projects on turnkey basis including all the services viz. water supply, sewerage, roads, electrical, air-conditioning, fire-fighting etc. Expertise in all fields of building construction namely Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Horticulture is available under one umbrella.
