Market Insights by Veteran TradersMike has over 25 years of WECC Term Trading with experience at Avista, Hafslund and Barclays. In 2002, Mike founded the industry leading analysis firm Powerlytix forecasting Western power markets. He has specialized in modeling the impacts of hydro on Western power markets and created a model-based trading system which he implemented at Barclays. Mike earned an MBA from Gonzaga University and BA Business, Eastern Washington University.
Scott has traded the Western power markets since the onset of deregulation in 1997. Beginning his power trading career at Powerex in Vancouver BC, Scott moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2000 and worked for Mirant, ultimately managing their generation portfolio in the west. In 2004 Scott moved to Sempra EnergyTrading as a western proprietary trader then to Barclays Capital and Goldman Sachs as Managing Director in their Commodities groups. He returned to Canada in 2010 heading Trans Alta's trade floor in Calgary, Alberta. Scott has an undergraduate degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario and a MBA from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia.
