dosage forms/strengths, inventory control and assisting the

pharmacist. Externship opportunities available. This is a full-year

program from August through May.

Interested new applicants should visit or call the school to be

placed on the interest list. Students must attend an information

night in July 2018 and complete the application/interview pro-

cess to be approved for the program.

Uniform is required (white lab coat)

This program meets the requirements for CA state certification

(HSD or equivalency is required for state certification).

(Program offered in coordination with AUMT Institute Phlebotomy school). The course prepares graduates for entry-level positions as phle-botomists in hospitals, clinics, Laboratory Service Centers and physician’s offices. Upon completion of the program , students will have met all of the State of California’s requirements to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI). Passing a National Certification examination is also required and will be given on campus after the Didactic Training and prior to com-pleting Externship. 8/14/18—10/11/18 T & Th 5:30—8:30 pm $1500

Introduction to medical terminology using words, prefixes, suffixes,

combining forms, abbreviations and pronunciation. Anatomy in-

cludes body systems and structures. Recommended for all medical

classes.

Review of terminology, anatomy, administrative, and clinical skills

to prepare students for the Medical Assistant Certification Exam.

The computer-based state certification exam is proctored

through PearsonVue . Eligible students must have recent work

experience or recent formal training in an approved MA program.

Applications and fees are submitted to CCBMA at least 4 - 8

weeks before scheduling a testing date. Upon approval, students

can register with PearsonVue to take the test . Fee: $185 (Basic

& two specialties) $145 (Basic & one specialty)

Instruction and hands-on practice in insurance coverage,

claims, collections; computerized training in charges, pay-

ments, adjustments and deposits. Extensive ICD-10 and CPT

coding for overall billing practices. Record keeping and med-

ical office operations.

Patient Care Technician *

Electronic Medical Records An electronic medical record is the computerized version of

the traditional chart. Electronic versions allow medical pro-

fessionals to zoom in on the precise information they need

to provide the best possible care to their patients. This

course will introduce students to the medical record for-

mats, numbering and filing systems, storage and retrieval

systems as well as legal requirements for maintain medical

records.

This course prepares the student to work as an entry-level

Patient Care Technician in a clinic, hospital, nursing home,

or long-term care facility. Students will learn to check vital

signs, administer CPR and First Aid, assist in medical exami-

nations, perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), perform basic

laboratory procedures and phlebotomy, as well as learn to

provide basic patient care including bathing, feeding, toi-

leting, and ambulating patients. Upon successful completion

of the course, the student will also be eligible to take the

National Health-career Association exam to become a Certi-

fied Patient Care Technician (CPCT).

Classes will resume January, 2019.
