    The price of medicine today has become very expensive for

    the people who earn average income a month. etting sic! is a

    big strain to their b"dget# so they wo"ld see! for

    alternatives that are affordable and more effective. $any

    researchers contin"e to st"dy several plants that co"ld be an

    alternative to expensive medicine b"t are more effective.

    Cayenne %epper is m"ch !nown in o"r co"ntry especially to

    those who love spices. It is relatively high in vitamin &.

    'erbal medicines have very high potential in the field of

    medicine. &side from being cheap# it can be easily ac("ired by

    anyone. These herbal medicines have also the same effects with

    the commercial medicines. This st"dy is done to test the

    effectiveness of Cayenne %epper leaves extract as an

    antibacterial.

    diseases exist wherever we go and affect people.The st"dy of

    Capsic"m ann"m is important beca"se it has many benefits and

    "ses and this st"dy aims to determine if Cayenne %epper leaves

    extract has any antibacterial property against ). marcescens

    and 1. s"btilis and aims to help people find new c"re to their

    diseases and to discover and develop more "sef"l things and

    co"ld treat illness with Cayenne %epper leaves extract which

    is a less expensive s"bstit"te.

    leaves extract. The commercial antibiotic "sed in this st"dy

    is &moxicillin. The proced"re was all done in the Research

    laboratory at "sa Regional )cience 'igh )chool-3. The st"dy

    was done with proper handling of materials and r"les were

    followed "pon cond"cting the st"dy.

    preservative. Cayenne pepper is often spread on sandwiches or

    be an aphrodisiacbeca"se it contains capsaicin. Capsaicin has

    been shown to increase energy expendit"re# so acts as a

    metabolism booster and is beneficial in long-term weight loss.

    Capsaicin treatment s"stained fat oxidation d"ring weight

    maintenance# b"t did not affect weight regain after modest

    weight loss. It has also been shown to aid in

    %roced"re

    Gathering of materials. ather all the materials

    needed in performing the experiment# )panish %l"m )tem# triple

    beam balance# petri dish# stirring rod# alcohol lamp# s"rgical

    gloves# match stic!s# cotton swabs# a"toclave# inoc"lating

    hood# n"trient agar# triple distilled water# paper disc# anti-

    wrapping.

    Weighing/Air drying/ Soaing.The c"t plant was p"t in a

    folded paper and weighed ,>./g and then air-dried for one

    wee!. &fter air-drying for one wee!# weigh it again. &fter air

    drying# the c"t plant was soa!ed in ,??ml of >EF ethyl alcohol

    and soa!ed for six days.

    Sterili!ation. )terili6e the %etri dishes# cotton swabs#

    mas!s# gloves# ,,.B dissolved n"trient agar with B??ml of

    triple distilled water# paper discs# p"ller and other

    and another ,B min"tes for cooling. Then label the / petri

    dishes.

    "noculating. It is where the c"lt"ring of bacteria occ"rs

    and where the two bacteria are placed. These are ). $arescens

    and 1. )"btilis. This is done in an inoc"lating hood.

    S#abbing. The coo!ed n"trient agar was then po"red into

    the / petri dishes. &fter how many min"tes p"t the ,? paper

    disc into the p"re extract and ,? into the commerciali6e one.

    Using the mas! and the gloves# sterili6e the / petri dishes

    "nder the alcohol lamp and caref"lly dip the cotton swabs into

    the bacteria and gently swab the cotton into the n"trient

    agar. Using p"ller# p"t B paper disc on each replicate. B for

    the p"re extract and another B for the commerciali6e one.

    Cover and heat again the petri dishes and wrap it with

    sterili6ed paper. 2abel the wrapped petri dishes and do this

    all again to other bacteria.

    "ncubation. The wrapped %etri dishes will be inc"bated in

    the inoc"lating hood within GE ho"rs.

    $bservation. ;ith the help of yo"r Research teacher#

    observe and meas"re the 6one of inhibition in millimeters of

    each treatment "sing a r"ler and record it in / separate

    tables.
