What is Anxiety?Anxiety is a
normal emotion in life every once and awhile. Disorders though can cause distress to the point of affecting you leading a normal life. It’s a very serious mental disorder where worry and fear constantly plague and overwhelm you and can be very disabilitating.

Common Signs• Excessive worry• Avoidance• School Refusal• Arousal• Intrusive Thoughts• Vigilance• Threat Estimation• Irrational Fear• Separation Fear• Fear of Crowds• Selective Mutism
Risk Factors• Shyness during childhood• Being female• Few economic resources• Divorced or widowed• Exposed to stressful life events• Anxiety in biological relatives• Mental disorder history in parents• High noon cortisol levels in saliva
Treatment• Psychotherapy- talk therapy single out specific
anxieties.• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- Identifies,
challenges and neutralizes unhelpful thoughts.• Exposure Therapy- Confrontation head on of
anxieties and fears.• Medication- not a cure but usually relieves
symptoms.
Prevention???There is no way to
prevent anxiety disorders only ways to control or lessen it.
1. Stop or reduce caffeine intake.2. Don’t take over the counter meds before asking your doctor.3. Seek counseling!
