Anytime Anywhere Learning Defined
Definition: Deeper learning where students take more controlof their learning while teachers facilitate the learning of theirstudents.
Transforms educational paradigm as it requires different
instructional strategies apart from direct instruction. Why??? Direct instruction is an inferior model to provide anytime-anywhere
learning because knowledge comes mostly from the teacher 7:30am to2:30pm.
Direct instruction inadequately addresses the need for students to have21 st Century Skills.
Critical thinking & problem solving Creativity and innovation Communication & collaboration Information, media, and ICT literacy Initiative & self-direction Social & Cross-cultural interaction Leadership & responsibility

3 Component tools required
Facilitating Teacher Content author, Tutor, and Advisor.
Learning Management System Technology system resource used by facilitating teachers to
manage all instructional strategies, associated activities, andanalytical learning outcomes. One of the primary tools used by the facilitating teacher for
formative assessments used for just-in-time curricularenhancements.
Mobile Computing Device Technology tool used as the gateway for students to access digital
learning tools needed to develop their own personal learningnetwork.

Summer Professional Development July 23-27,2012 and August 13-17, 2012
Offered July 23-27, 2012 or August 13-17, 2012. Can be split between the two weeks but cannot split 2-day
workshop on Wednesday & Thursday.
Paid professional development 5 six-hour days. 36 teachers paid at curricular rate $28.50 per day.
Teachers in grades 7,8, and 9. Bonus incentive for attendance TBD

Provide Resources for Different Instructional Strategies Overview of other 1-2-1 Teaching Models - success at other
districts, states, etc. Teachers will select 1-2 instructional strategies that work for their
core content to provide their students with more of a student-centered classroom.
Strategies identified are targeted for 12-13 school year PD strands through outthe year.

Faculty & Student BYOD 2012-2013
All Garden Spot Faculty will be allowed to bring intheir own mobile devices.
Students in grades 10-12 will be allowed to bringtheir own devices provided:
Parent and student responsible use of device and ELANCOnetwork.
Students register their devices.
Students may bring in devices, however; use is to bedetermined by individual classroom teacher. If classroomteacher indicates that they are a disruption to the classroom,student must stow away the device.
