    ANZCA ASSOCIATE PERFORMER DIPLOMA

    Title:A.Dip.A.

    1. There are no prerequisites for this examination. To receive award, the candidate must complete Grade Five (5)ANZCA Theory with credit or higher (or an approved equivalent of Grade Seven (7) ABRSM or Trinity College with

    merit)

    2. Where the Theory requirement has been completed first, the Practical Examination must be passed within a fiveyear period

    3. A list of the pieces chosen must be submitted with the candidate s entry form. Pieces can be changed prior to theactual examination, but notification must be given to the office within 14 days of the examination date.

    4. Candidates must provide the examiners with photocopies of their list pieces at the beginning of the examination.These copies will be retained by the examiners and destroyed.

    5. Cadenzas for concerti must be played.6. This examination consists of four List pieces and general knowledge only.

    CLASSICAL STREAM

    There is one (1) practical examination ofone hours duration, which will consist of two sections:- Pieces- General Knowledge

    Objective

    To demonstrate by performance a stylistic awareness, musical sensitivity and understanding, maturity and high

    degree of technical competence performance.

    Criteria for Assessment

    PIECES

    Candidates will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate through their performance:

    A sound and proficient technique with facilitates the execution of the required repertoire;An understanding of the structure and content of each work; Fluency and cohesion throughout a work, including the continuity and linking of movements or variations

    where required;

    Awareness of the correct style or character appropriate to the period or historical background;A professional presentation with adherence to acceptable performance procedures and appearance.

    GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

    Candidates must satisfactorily demonstrate:

    They have made a detailed study of general knowledge requirements listed in the syllabus and cangive relevant, concise answer;

    An in depth understanding of the period, styles, composers, characteristics and structure of theworks presented, including keys and modulations;

    Knowledge of the instrument on which they are performing, and its historical development.

    General knowledge questions will include identification of cadences (major / minor / perfect / imperfect /

    interrupted), structure of each piece performed; recognition of chords I, II, IV, V of the tonic key only. Other works

    by the composer or other composers of the same period and definition of form or stylistic characteristics of the

    period for the piece performed. A knowledge of the construction of the instrument being used.
