Jawai Luxury tented Camp: Designed and run by the owners of “Sujan”

Luxury, in the heart of Rajasthan their new eight room tented camp represents a style that combines subtle opulence with adventure and camping at its finest. It is best included in an itinerary combining Jodhpur and Udaipur.

The air-conditioned canvas tents boast a contemporary design with stainless steel and leather accoutrements, windows with pull up flaps and large sit out private decks. The attached bathrooms have hot and cold running water from rain showers, flush toilets and vanity counters with chic amenities.

Guests can unwind in the Dining Tent or a scattering of discreet sit out areas which form part of the encampment. Or simply contemplate the celebrated artisan, Michael Aram’s charming collection which adorn the canvas walls.

Things you can do: Go on a game drive in customized 4x4 safari jeeps where you track the elusive leopard through the wilderness of craggy hills, grasslands and sandy riverbeds, walk with Rabari herdsmen; plan a picnic on a dam; visit a small village and spend the day with the locals.

Chanoud Garh, home stay: Built in the typical “Haveli style” with wide

open courtyards this 7 suite mansion is 300 yrs. old. The family run property has been restored with much care and attention keeping the character of the original building in mind. The owners reside in one wing and are your hosts and guides to the area. The suites are large and although all are different each has its own unique charm. The ceilings are high and the bathrooms spacious, most suites have separate showers and double vanity counters.

Chanoud makes a great one night stop if you are driving between Udaipur and Jodhpur. A stop here gives you an opportunity to explore the Indian countryside and experience the leisurely lifestyle adopted outside the cities and towns.

Things you can do: spend the afternoon exploring village; teach for a while in a school; work in the hospital; spend a serene evening watching the beautiful sunset.

Things to keep in mind: despite the fact that there is no TV nor a swimming pool, Chanoud offers many activities to keep you occupied for an overnight stay
