Purpose of Certified System

(1) Clarification of activity area and its role of HCD

(2) Activation of HCD activities

Official Name (English) 1st grade: “Certified Human Centered Design Professional” 2nd grade: “Certified Human Centered Design Specialist” 3rd grade: “HCD Accreditation Test” (Planned from 2016) * “Human Centered Design” will be abbreviated as “HCD” hereafter * Presidency: NPO Human Centered Design Organization = “HCD-Net”

Aim to establish the Certified HCD Professional System

1) To establish a certification system which can authorize professionals who can practice “Human Centered Design Process” for developing products and systems

2) To clarify abilities to be required for HCD Professionals

3) To clarify the “Activity Goal” for persons who desire to enhance their professional skills

4) To practice an enlightenment for persons who desire to utilize such expertise

Whose “Certification System” ? 1st Grade: “Professionals” Can educate backward people in the HCD professional field More than 5 years experience on actual jobs or businesses Project Managers, Web Producers, Consultants, Usability Professionals, etc.

2nd Grade: “Specialists” Can propel by himself/herself activities on designing of user requirement specifications or activities on user observation tests, etc. Can propel HCD activities in an elected post or a concurrent post having more than 2 years, but not enough experience as "Professional" Planners, Market Researchers, System Engineers, Requirement Engineers, Web Directors, UI Designers, Usability Evaluators, Manual & Instruction Documentation Writers, etc.

3rd Grade: Authorized persons pass an accreditation test For biginners, having basic sufficient knowledge on HCD field Person in charge of job orders, graduate students, newcomers, etc.

Qualification Requirements 1st Grade: "HCD Professional"

• Person who has more than 5 years of experience on actual jobs related to HCD or Usability activities.

2nd Grade: "HCD Specialist"

• Person who has more than 2 years of experience on actual jobs related to HCD or Usability activities.

More than 3 cases on actual practices which can

show required competence for HCD activities. No restriction on educational background

How does it examined ?

Documentary examination approach ・Applicants must describe their actual experienced projects into application forms. Inspected criteria ・Reviewers shall inspect whether described experiences meet to the practice standards to be determined by HCD-Net. Reviewing flow ・Described experiences in the application form shall be grading by more than 4 anonymity reviewers.

What does it certified ?

HCD-Net authorizes that an applied person has demonstrated their competence through their actual projects,

which were described in the application forms, based on the "HCD Competence Map“ *,

created by HCD-Net.

Certification of "HCD Professional" & the Competence

Certification of "HCD Professional" is authorized based on the demonstrated competence through their actual projects, according to the "HCD Competence Map“, created by HCD-Net.

2. Whether total obtained points satisfy the pass border line ? • In case there are large difference between reviewers, it must be decided finally through "judgment committee" to be organized by HCD-Net.

Make judgement on the examniee's competence reliability according to the

Project Statement and each written competence column. The most highest point

shall be counted and evaluated as for

competence of written projects.
