  • The late Dr. Thomas Jenkins, interim pastor of Brandon United Presbyterian Church (laterrenamed C.N. Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church), organized a group of dedicatedmembers to create the first formal Usher Board Ministry. Originally, Deacons and Eldersperformed this service for the church. Dr. Jenkins recognized the need for a group ofcommitted lay people who would serve in this capacity to bring order, structure, and awelcoming atmosphere to all those who passed through the doors of the church. In lateryears, the Usher Board Ministry expanded to include Junior Ushers giving our young peoplethe opportunity to serve our membership.

Ushers are to be people of God who serve the church by enhancing the worship service, providing a friendly, cheerful greeting to all who pass through their post and maintain orderin a congenial manner.

Today we are celebrating 38 years. We have been blessed to have all individuals who havemade the commitment and dedication to serve the church in faith and love.

If you are interested in serving on the Usher Board Ministry, please reach out to any of ourushers. Our monthly meetings are held on the 1st Monday of the month at 6:30 pm.

    MORNING SCRIPTURE:Genesis 37:3-11 (NLT)

3 Jacob loved Joseph more than any of hisother children because Joseph had beenborn to him in his old age. So one day Jacobhad a special gift made for Joseph—abeautiful robe. 4 But his brothers hatedJoseph because their father loved him morethan the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kindword to him. 5 One night Joseph had adream, and when he told his brothers aboutit, they hated him more than ever. 6 “Listento this dream,” he said. 7 “We were out in thefield, tying up bundles of grain. Suddenly mybundle stood up, and your bundles allgathered around and bowed low beforemine!” 8 His brothers responded, “So you thinkyou will be our king, do you? Do you actuallythink you will reign over us?” And they hatedhim all the more because of his dreams andthe way he talked about them.

9 Soon Joseph had another dream, andagain he told his brothers about it. “Listen, Ihave had another dream,” he said. “The sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed low beforeme!” 10 This time he told the dream to hisfather as well as to his brothers, but his fatherscolded him. “What kind of dream is that?” heasked. “Will your mother and I and yourbrothers actually come and bow to theground before you?”

11 But while his brothers were jealous ofJoseph, his father wondered what the dreamsmeant.
