Happy October! And, it is not as hot, but it is still hot!!! Our September show brought some new cars out and we had a good mix of makes, models and years. Good job everyone on putting another show together. Everything went together great. Special thanks to Don Blackstock for organizing this one. We had a good venue thanks to Home Depot. We will begin planning our Christmas Party soon. There were a few members that volunteered for the committee. Please look for those emails and let us know if you plan on attending so we have accurate numbers. Tara Club is hosting a show on October 8th at Summit Racing. They have supported our shows in the past and brought many cars. I think we should reciprocate this year. Registration begins at 9am. If we leave early in the morning, and the show ends at 3pm, I think we could make this a great day to cruise up I-20. Let me know if you are interested! We have signed up to host a national show Memorial Day of 2018. We will need volunteers for the different committees and will start have the planning meetings soon. Please think about how you can help. We will have more information on the committees within the next couple of months. Hope to see you at the meeting!! -Matt H

Wow! October is fast approaching! This year has flown by so fast! Pretty soon the weather wil be nippy and we’ll be celebrating at the Christmas party! It was a great turnout at the 6th annual Home Depot show this last weekend. We had over 60 cars registered. Everyone pitched in and we had a great time. I look forward to our spring show and the upcoming National Show in 2018! Myrtle Beach is the site of another Nation Show September 30th through October 2nd. Who all is making plans to attend? It would be great to convoy up and hang out. Remember the CSRA Road Angels Pumpkin Run is slated for November 12th at the Augusta Mall. Club participation is always important to collect the $500 award to help fund our Christmas party. See y ’all at the meeting! Keep the shiny side up and between the lines! Why I Chose My Mustang
Tony Smith
I chose my mustang a year before my retirement from the military after 25 years of service. I had a junky foreign car that kept breaking down and I said to my wife “I need another car”. She said, “Just go buy one”. I told her I didn’t want to waste money on buying a car I didn’t want and she said “What do you want?” and I told her I wanted a Shelby. She said she knew that I had wanted one since they were reintroduced in 2006. I knew I had to go out “BIG”!
So, I purchased a new 2014 Shelby GT500 from the Military Overseas Car Sales. A friend
of mine, Brian Huijgens, Senior Sales Rep at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) Military Sales helped me order one of the last 2014 Shelby’s off the line. When I was ordering I was thinking of my first car that my parents bought for me, a 1966 Mustang Coupe Pony car. It was silver with black pen-striping, pony interior, rally pack with clock and tachometer, 4-barrel carb, air conditioning, and chrome air filter and valve covers!
So, I ordered my 2014 Convertible Shelby GT500 in silver with black stripes. There were no
convertible Shelby’s in the color I wanted but Brian Huijgens called in a few favors and was able to order my car to my request. I was so excited, I remember asking him how fast my car would be and he said “You will pass everything on the road except a gas station”! LOL, I couldn’t believe it. I would actually own a piece of history, the fastest mustang ever made. When the car arrived the German import agent pulled me aside and said in a heavy German accent “Respect Zie Car”. I had no idea what he was talking about till I got behind the wheel with Brian in the passenger seat and headed to Customs to register the car. I was passing everything on the Autobahn! It was awesome. When I arrived with Brian the Customs agent was asking me for the car information. He asked for the make, model, and then said “What is zie horsepower?” I said, “662”, and the Customs agent stopped, looked up and said “62??” and I said “No, 662”. The customs agent was baffled and said in the heavy German accent “Where is zie car?” and laughing I said, “Zie car is outside”. The agent then got up from behind his desk and went to the door. He opened it and saw the car, stood there a bit, then turned around came back to his desk and wrote “662” by Horsepower. It was a moment I will never forget.
My car is very special to me. It is an amalgam of many beautiful memories. It reminds me
of my parent’s hard work in buying me my first mustang; it is the symbol and culmination of 25 years military service, a symbol of American power, and Freedom. Now, it reminds me of the many close friends I have in the CSRA Mustang Club. Thank you to everyone in the club, you guys are family.

SONOMA, Calif. -- Nate Stacy drove the No. 14 Roush Performance Racing Boss 302 Ford Mustang to his first Pirelli World Challenge GTS win at Sonoma Raceway.

Stacy started from outside pole after a strong qualifying run earlier in the morning. At the drop of the green flag, Stacy immediately took the lead in turn one and ran the rest of the race under constant pressure from championship point’s leader Brett Sandberg in the No. 13 ANSA Motorsports KTM X-Bow GT4.

Despite several attempts at the lead from multiple followers, Stacy proved to be unpassable and led flag to flag while securing his first GTS win.

Parker Chase, driving a Ford-powered Ginnetta, spent the entire event battling with Martin Barkey, Hugh Plumb and Sandberg for second throughout the event and was able to secure
the 2nd place finish.

YUK, YUCK!!
My three-year-old daughter stuck out her hand and said, “Look at the fly I killed, Mommy.” Since she
was eating a juicy pickle at the time, I thrust her contaminated hands under the faucet and washed
them with antibacterial soap.
After sitting her down to finish her pickle, I asked, with a touch of awe, “How did you kill that fly all by yourself?” Between bites, she said, “I hit it with my pickle.”
Every Scooby-Doo episode would literally be two minutes long if the gang went to the mask store first and asked a few questions.
I once gave my husband the silent treatment for an entire week, at the end of which he declared,
“Hey, we’re getting along pretty great lately!”
The last time we changed from daylight saving time, a preacher friend posted, “For those who habitually show up 15 minutes late to church, allow me to remind you that tonight is the night you set your clock back 45 minutes.”
