What is National Service Scheme ➢ NSS is a noble experiment in academic expansion. ➢ It encapsulates the spirit of voluntary work among the students and the teachers to sustain

community interaction. ➢ It brings academic institution closer to the society. ➢ It shows how to combine knowledge and action for community development. ➢ NSS is a fulfilment of Mahatma Gandhi’s Dream to surve the needy in rural areas. ➢ Government of India officially launched NSS on 24th September, 1969. ➢ NSS unit was established at college in 2006 with the objective of personality

development of the students and faculties through community services. Objectives

➢ To understand the community in which they work. ➢ To understand themselves in relation to the community. ➢ To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve students in problem

solving process.

➢ To develop their sense of social and civic responsibility. ➢ To utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual community

problems.

➢ To develop competence required for group – living and sharing of responsibilities. ➢ To gain skills in mobilizing community participation. ➢ To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude. ➢ To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters. ➢ To practice national integration and social harmony. ➢ To reflect the essence of democratic living. ➢ To uphold the needs for selfless service. ➢ To appreciate others as person. ➢ To inculcate moral values in students and develop them as responsible citizens of India.

Birth of NSS & NSS Day 24th September, 1969 (Mahatma Gandhi Centenary year)

Obligation on NSS Volunteers:- To work for two continued years along with their studies. 120 hours service each year

and participation on in one camp.
