From Don Roark, Treasurer
Hello everyone,
The fiscal year, or business operating year, for the Center ended on June 30th. For the year as a whole, we had an oper-
ational loss of $24,752. While the loss looks bad, remember that we had a major
expense last fall in renovating the old Pharmacy area for a new tenant. That
expense was planned and approved by the Board in advance, but it did
contribute to the loss for the year. Below is a chart showing you how
several of our revenue streams did for the year as a whole:
We made sub sandwiches 4 times during the year that produced a profit of $3,013
for the Center.
Membership President
Bill Vendetti
I hope everyone is enjoying our new breakfast program. The kitchen is looking for volunteers to help with this program. The wood carvers, on Monday mornings are looking for more carvers or those who would like to learn how to carve. Remember to order your delicious subs by Sept 8th for delivery on the 15th. Don’t forget to volunteer in any of the many categories. Starting September 11, 2017 we will be open on Monday’s.

Delaware Prescription Assistance Program – Many have contacted me because their premium starting in September was going to make it difficult for them to pay and continue meeting their other financial obligations. For many of you, due to the fact that you were allowed to use a “Special Enrollment Period”, have come in and have been able to locate a cheaper plan that would work at least until the open en-rollment period for 2018. For many of you, because of the type of prescriptions you take, it was wiser for you to remain in your current plan. If you did not check to see if it would be wise for you to use the Special Enrollment Period, you can still contact me and I will check your prescriptions for you. However if you have not changed your plan and you wish you had, you only have to keep your current plan until December 31, 2017.
Do not try to use your Delaware Prescription Assistance Plan cards after August 31, 2017.
Open Enrollment – I am sure most of you realize that this is the period of time that you can have your prescription plan reviewed and make changes to a new plan to begin on January 1, 2018. As of now, I am scheduling appointments for the open enrollment period. In fact, I would appreciate receiving as many of your prescrip-tions lists so I can be sure they are updated. It will make things easier during open enrollment because it saves time inputting new drugs added to your list or removing old ones you no longer take. If you are bringing a list in for me, please put it in an envelope with your name on the list inside and mine on the outside. Also, if you know you have “extra help” (LIS), please note that because it will make a big differ-ence in the cost of your drugs. If you don’t know or are not sure let me know so I can check with Medicare. The only assistance available for prescription plans now that Delaware Prescription Assistance is closed is “extra help” (LIS). This program has income guidelines. I can pretty much tell whether you are eligible when you give me proof of your income at your appointment.

Lawyer Available
Do you have a legal question that you are not sure who to turn to or what to do? We now have a lawyer from Moore & Rutt, PA, James Sharp, who is coming to our office to help answer questions and
guide you in the direction you need to go. If the question is something that would require a definite appointment, he will make
an appointment with you or you can use any lawyer of your choosing but this is just another opportunity for our seniors to have someone to turn to when they are unsure of what to do. The front desk will always know when he is going to be here and you can schedule a
half-hour appointment with him for that day.
It’s that time of year again! Time to get back in the groove of things. Our
first gig will be at First State on September 21, 2017 @ 9:45am.
