Pastor’s Corner . . . Dear Parishioners:

I hope that the pandemic and the lockdown has taught us to value the little things. In life, there are very few priorities. They should always be at the forefront: God, family, and friends to name the most significant ones. But often they are stowed away, forgotten, and neglected. Souls become blurred and calloused by doubts and unbelief. What is the remedy? Return to the old. The old will fashion us new again. As St. Augustine says, “God is ever old and ever new.” Return to the old by holding God, family, and friends in highest possible regard. Greetings and peace be upon you. I am happy to announce that soon our parish will reopen and resume the celebration of Mass, funeral, wedding, and reconciliation. Also, we will schedule first holy communion soon. We are still anticipating the bishop’s directives on the celebration of baptism and confirmation. This means that the RCIA, adult confirmation, and youth confirmation celebrations are also imminent. Below you will find important dates and the main directives for St. Frances of Rome as we prepare to reopen:

♦ Public Mass begins on June 13 (Check website for new Mass schedule) ♦ Funerals are now permitted keeping the number of attendees to 100 ♦ Weddings are now permitted keeping the number of attendees to 100 ♦ Confession will resume on Saturday, June 20 at 8:30AM * Keeping individual confession to the most minimum duration * ♦ Parish office will reopen on June 17 (Office visits are by appointment only at this time) ♦ There are still no ministry gatherings, meetings, religious education classes at this time

At the celebration of the Mass

♦ Only 100 attendees are allowed per Mass ♦ No processions before or after Mass, offertory procession is omitted ♦ Four ciboria are pre-filed with bread for consecration ♦ The priest enters the sanctuary from the sacristy as in daily Mass, he exits the same way ♦ At communion, the faithful remain in their seats. The ministers will bring communion to you ♦ We ask that you leave when the Mass concludes to ensure distancing and sanitation ♦ Attend one Mass per week only––any day will be your Sunday ♦ Marked seats are open for occupancy for proper social distancing ♦ We will designate one entrance and one exit ♦ When church occupancy reaches to 100 a “Full” sign is placed at the gate entrance * Ministers with immune deficiency, pre-existing condition, and 65 years of age or older may not serve at this time *

♦ Parishioners with immune deficiency, pre existing condition, and 65 yrs of age or older should not attend Mass at this time (Dispensation from Sunday obligation is still in place)

* This is a strong recommendation but not a prohibition * ♦ For those who attend Mass virtually call the office for appointment to receive communion ♦ I appeal to your good nature to bring and wear your face mask during Mass except when receiving communion ♦ Priests and deacons do not wear mask during Mass except when distributing communion ♦ No choir or music at this time ♦ Only one lector to proclaim the readings except the gospel ♦ No meet and greet before or after Mass ♦ At each Mass, including the weekday Mass, two collection baskets (Regular offertory and Building Fund) are

placed in front of the altar for the faithful to drop their contribution ♦ No altar servers at this time––the deacons or the sacristans who set up for Mass will assist the priest ♦ The formula, “The Body of Christ” is said by the priest only once and the people in unison will respond “Amen”

The ministers will only need to bring communion to the faithful ♦ No gathering anywhere, including kitchen area before Mass ♦ Please take home any items belonging to you like the missalettes, masks, bottled waters ♦ Soon we will digitalize Mass readings and music using the projector ♦ Precious blood will not be distributed for the time being ♦ Communion is received in the hand at this time ♦ Holy water fonts are emptied

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you wish to contact me call the office or email me.

Sincerely,

Fr. James F. Oropel

Esquina de Pastor . . . Estimados Feligreses:

Sinceramente,

El P. James F. Oropel

Arise & Build Re: Directory A new parish directory has been designed to include:

• photos of our church’s groundbreaking and its construction • our parish’s 130+ year history • a list of parishioners with contact information (optional) • a professional photo of your family

Next weekend, reserve a time and date for your scheduled no-cost photo shoot in front of the church!

TO HONOR THIS GREAT ACHIEVEMENT, A NEW PARISH DIRECTORY HAS BEEN DESIGNED. It will include a pictorial history of our church for the last 130+ years, groundbreaking photos, photos of the

new church as it is being built, photos of various events (i.e. Cinco de Mayo, Car Raffle, etc.) and photos of the different church ministries/groups. And, more importantly, it will have your family’s picture, too! Next weekend a table will be available in front of the church to schedule a date and time for your family to be photographed. The photo you picked will be published in the directory, and, oh . . . you will also get a free 8 x 10 photo to be framed AT NO COST. My name is Bob Murray and I have been a parishioner since 2012. For many years we have been raising money for our Building Fund and over the last few years we made great strides. Now, we will soon break ground on our new beautiful church then have it built & completed in the next 18 months. So, plan ahead. Reserve a time and date for your family’s photo session. The photo shoots will be held at the pre-school. We look forward to seeing you next weekend.

Building Project Prayer

Almighty Father,

We are grateful to you for our existing worship center. We are also grateful and indebted to all the generous people over the years, especially the generation that founded this community some 130 years ago. We are grateful to have the opportunity to continue your work by building our future church for our children and this growing community.

Lord, teach us true generosity that we will be the first to give, for all we have is yours. Help us to give wholeheartedly. Touch our hearts to not be afraid to give, for you take care of our needs and bless us with infinite rewards on earth and in Heaven.

Through the intercession of St. Joseph, the carpenter, and St. Frances of Rome, our patron saint, help us to achieve our dream to build our future church, a space set apart from the mundane, solely dedicated to meet the divine, so that we are drawn to a more contemplative and deeper experience of you.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Amen.
