This meeting was held at the Libbie Mill Library. Twenty-five members and one guest were in attendance. The meeting was brought to order by President Nancy Klein at 10AM. Nancy began by welcoming guest Cissy Williams and introducing and welcoming new member Bill Whitworth who joined in May but had not been able to attend the May meeting. Nancy then shared the sad news that member Kel Cohen had passed away the previous day. Members were reminded that the deadline for submitting titles for the upcoming July exhibit need to be sent to MJ Mann on/by June 15th. Nancy also said that if anyone wishes to participate in the exhibit but hasn’t signed up yet, they may do so by the end of this meeting.

Anita Storino reminded folks that the June photo shoot is scheduled for 18th at Class & Trash in Scott’s Addition. Nancy said that the July photo shoot will be at Pony Pasture. There was then a brief discussion about the formats for the July and August meetings and other RDPC business. Anita introduced our main speaker and one of our favorite guests, Wolfgang Jasper, at approximately 10:15. Wolfgang spoke until approximately 11:50 about ways to improve member submitted images using simple to somewhat more complex image processing tools available in PhotoShop and Topaz. He also demonstrated some of these techniques on other member images. The meeting concluded at noon.

The RDPC Tuckahoe Photo Exhibit will be on display from July 1 - 31. Consider coming early or staying after the July meeting so you can have a walk around and see the exhibit.

What fun our June meeting was with Wolfgang! If you thought that was fun wait till you see what Anita has in store for July! See details for the July meeting later in the newsletter. Please participate. The more members involved the more informative and fun. We will break with tradition and start with PhotoShare. Sorry we did not get to this last month. By sharing photos at the beginning of this meeting you will have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions of the maker when we break up for our small group peer discussions. Bring your photos, bring your cameras and let’s have some fun. June took us to Class and Trash for our photo outing. A far different experience than our July outing will be. Going to Pony Pasture in July. Details will follow but mark your calendar for 7/16. July, August and September meetings will be at Tuckahoe Library. Hope to see you there. NK

This meeting will start with Photo Share then will feature small group image reviews. Members may bring images on a jump drive or as prints. We will need several members to bring laptops. ALSO, we are encouraging members to bring their camera and lenses. The unstructured time will allow people to ask questions, look at other people’s cameras, maybe try out a lens you have been thinking about buying. We will also have a Photo Share session.

We are always looking for new and interesting places to go for photo shoots. If you have any ideas, please let Nancy Klein or any other RDPC officer know.

Our July 16th Photo Outing will be at Pony Pasture

Nancy Klein will be hosting this shoot. Please meet at the Pony Pasture parking lot at 7AM. After the shoot, we will be going to the Eat 66 diner at 2845 Hathaway Rd. (about 5 mins from Pony Pasture in the Stratford Hills shopping center) for a late breakfast/brunch.

We welcome comments, corrections, and suggestions. If you have something to say, don’t hesitate to contact MJ Mann. We need member photos for the monthly masthead position on page one of the newsletter. These images will also grace our web site home page every month. The photos can be B&W or color but must be 5.5”- 6” wide X 1.5” – 2.25” high. The higher the resolution the better. If you prefer to have me crop your image for you, let me know.

“If the photographer is interested in the people in front of his lens, and if he is compassionate, it’s already a lot. The instrument is not the camera but the photographer.” Eve Arnold (1912 – 2012) American photojournalist and celebrity photographer.
