Guests of Rotarians: Dick McGavern introduced his son Chuck, Lloyd Lill’s grandson Dustin Garrett was visiting, and Rhoda Childs introduced her daughter Melissa. Welcome to all visitors – visit us again soon! Newest Members: President Jeff introduced our three newest members: Bob & Shelby McGlynn trans- ferred to our club from the Honeoye Lake Club and Steve Tobin transferred from the Ontario-Walworth Club. Welcome Shelby, Bob & Steve. Paul Harris A ward: Past President Linda Collins announced our club’s RI giving during the 2010-2011 Rotary year – we donated $6222.25 to the Annual Fund and $5685.49 to Polio Plus for a total of $11,907.74. Linda and Lisa Ventura Stanton, ADG then presented our newest Paul Harris recipients, Carole & Gary Francis. They are both very active in local and international Rotary projects. Congratulations Carole & Gary! And a big Thank You to club members who donated to the Annual Fund and Polio Plus. Highlighted Member: President Jeff Anthony read a short summary for members to guess who he was talking about – Barb Fuge joined our club in 2010. Barb is a history buff, who can fire a cannon. She is very excited for the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Civil War – including being involved as a re- enactor. Budgets: President Jeff presented the Operating & Foundation budgets that the Board had approved. Several members had questions, so the Board will review, make changes and bring the budgets back to the club. Perfect Attendance A wards: Secretary Michelle Garlock presented 43 pins to club members. Top hon- ors went to Len Kane who has 43 years of Perfect Attendance. To the almost 100 members that did not receive a pin: it’s a new Rotary year – strive for Perfect Attendance! Make up at other clubs or online; and be sure to report your makeups to Secretary Michelle Garlock. Exchange Students: Former exchange student Patty Symon is attending Keuka College and hopes to do a three month abroad study in Malawi. She needs $4000 to fund her plane fare and expenses for three months. If you can help out, see Linda Collins or Dick McGavern. Camp Onseyawa: Volunteer help is needed in the kitchen and for carnival and tear down. If you can work at camp, see Joe Kardesh. Pier Festival: Our annual event to showcase Rotary and 30+ other local not-for-profits is fast approaching. Sponsorships are still needed – see Jack Moran to donate. Each member needs to work a minimum three hour shift at the Festival on August 13th – see Donna Miller for the sign-up schedule. Jackpot Drawing: Our annual drawing is coming up. The profits from this fund local and international pro- jects, so SELL, SELL, SELL! Mary Green reports 493 tickets sold and 207 yet to sell. Tickets are $50 each. Membership: George Herren reported that during 2010-2011 we had a 97.5% retention rate for member- ship. Hats off to the Membership Committee for work- ing to get new members, and for keeping current mem- bers involved. Featured Past President: Tom Sheavly served as Club President in 1960-61. He joined the club in 1948 when he was 20 years old – youngest per- son to ever join our club. In 1960 we met at the Canandaigua Hotel; lunch was $1.25, dues were $20 and induction fee was $15. During his year as president we started events with Canandaigua Kiwanis Club – a golf match and softball game. Program Assistant Governor Lisa Ventura Stanton is Past President of the Geneva club. She works for Finger Lakes Health, and one of their core values is to be a part of the community and to serve the area. Lisa talked about the RI theme – Reach Within to Embrace Humanity. She noted that she’ll visit our club periodically throughouth the year. She congratulated our members for being one of the top performing clubs in the District – in membership, in club projects, and for large dona- tions to Rotary International. 50/50 W inner: Andy Platou drew the 4 of spades, so the Joker Draw stays at $366.50. Ed O’Hanlon won $16.
