Where We Were in June
How Will You Help? Have you ever asked yourself, “What does the Lord intend for me to do here…..what is my purpose?” I have asked myself that many times, and the older I get, the more it seems I ask that question. I know there are many things in my life that I want to accomplish, but what is my true “calling?” I find it so sad to see people in this world that have loads of money, and they do absolutely nothing Godly with it. Sure, there are those few that help, Bill Gates, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, but what about the millions of others, who can, but don’t? As some of you may know, for the past 2 1/2 years I have been working toward a degree in Global Logistics. I know, you’re next question is, “What is Global Logistics?” In a nutshell, it’s the flow of goods, information, and technology from point A to point B. It’s sounds rather boring don’t you think? The more I study, and the more I’ve put into this program, the more I’ve asked myself…..”How will this help others?” You see, even before working at AUMC (but even more so now), I’ve realized that God has something planned for me. What is my plan God? What do you want me to do? I believe, that God has intended for me to be a compassionate listener, a helper without being asked, his mouth, his eyes, his ears….to be as Godly as I can here on earth. I feel such a passion in my heart to listen to those who hurt, to hug and pray for those who have pain. I want to take their pain away, but how? I want to help! Children are starving, people are without insurance, terrorism, death, disease, poverty, global warming, the list goes on and on. I know I can do more. I have decided to sit down and have a long conversation with God. I’m going to ask him, “What do you want me to do to help?” I’m going to wait for an answer, because I know, He will guide me. When I find out, you’ll know, you’ll all know. I want to share with you the mission that God is sending me on. Whatever it is, I will do it. Whether it be to change my college major, or to quit my job and go to work in a 3rd world country, I will help. How will you help? Will you share your time with a friend in need, rescue an animal whose been discarded, serve at your local soup kitchen, donate money to someone who needs to fill a prescription? I want to do all that and more, I want to dedicate my life helping others, just as Jesus dedicated His life to us.
Your humble servant, Debbi Colón

Dear Friends and Family of Archdale UMC: My father’s death was quite a shock and very unexpected. We learned of this at Annual Conference and had to rush on to Florida to tend to all the details. From the moment we learned of this until this very moment as you read this, my fam-ily has been showered with love, support and encouragement. When I was first appointed to serve this congregation in 2003 I wondered why in the world God would place me here. I was uncertain about what I would be able to offer this congregation and whether or not I would have the ability to lead this church where God needed it to go next. Little did I realize that God needed me to be in a place that would enable me to walk through some of the most tragic events of my life to date. The love, affirmation, encouragement and support of this congregation has sustained my family and I through a pregnancy loss, and now the untimely death of both of my parents. What you have given to me and to my family over these years has meant more to us than words can describe. I covet your prayers for our continued healing and offer to you my deepest gratitude for all you have done for us. Dana

Dear AUMC Folks,
Thanks so much for putting together the luncheon for the teachers at Archdale Elementary. Special thanks to all of those who cooked and helped with serving! We can never pay teachers
enough for all they do for our children, so it is nice to say thank you once in a while! We appreciate that AUMC has “adopted” Archdale Elementary and all the ways they support the
school from prayers, cards, letters, and food!
Rosa, Gwen, and I thank you on behalf of the Board at Communities In Schools.
