Now in his 36th year, he is made to marrya buffalo to neutralize his ‘maanglik’ stars in the opening sequence andyou laugh at his pathetic condition. You know how unique can AkshayKumar be in such scenes. He isn’ t your stereotypical village boy whowould be a celibate before marriage. Stalking a girl is a way of fetching herattention for Keshav. A woman leaves her husband on the first day of theirmarriage after discovering that he doesn't have a toilet. He desperately setsout on a mission to win back his love by standing up to the age-oldtraditions and values of India.

GLIMPSES OF THE LIVE SCREENING OF THE MOVIE AT COLLEGE SEMINARHALL: VDIT, 14TH SEPT, 2017

HOW IT EFFECTED US BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY?

The idea is to highlight the disadvantages of open defecation through ahumorous tale. Apart from this confusion, it’s a story that delivers a reallyimportant message about personal hygiene and proper sanitation system inrural areas. It’ s just that we hear the messages clearly in the first 50minutes. At 155 minutes, Toilet Ek Prem Katha is just short of becominganother Akshay Kumar masterclass in comedy, but it has enough toentertain you.

VINAYAK DAMODAR SARVARKAR

Savarkar wrote more than 10,000 pages in the Marathi language. Hisliterary works in Marathi include "Kamala", "Mazi Janmathep" (My LifeSentence), and most famously 1857 - The First War of Independence, inwhich Savarkar popularised the term "First War of Independence" for whatthe British referred to as the "Sepoy Mutiny".

Another book was Kale Pani (Black Water which means "life sentence" onthe island prison on the Andaman Islands), which reflected the treatmentof Indian Independence activists by the British. To counter the then Britishpropagated view that India's history was a saga of continuous defeat, hewrote an inspirational historical work, Saha Soneri Pane (Six Golden Pages),recounting some of the "Golden periods" of Indian history.

At the same time, religious divisions in India were beginning to beexacerbated. He described what he saw as the atrocities of British andMuslims on Hindu residents in Kerala in thebook, Mopalyanche Band (Muslims' Strike) andalso Gandhi Gondhal (Gandhi's Confusion), a political critique of Gandhi'spolitics. Savarkar, by now, had become a committed and persuasive critic ofthe Gandhian vision of India's future.

He is also the author of the poems Sagara pran talmalala (O Great Sea, MyHeart Aches for the Motherland), and Jayostute (written in praise offreedom). When in the Cellular jail, Savarkar was denied pen and paper. Hecomposed and wrote his poems on the prison walls with thorns andpebbles, memorised thousands of lines of his poetry for years till otherprisoners returning home brought them to mainland India.

Savarkar is credited with several neologisms in Marathi and Hindi, including"Hutatma" (Martyr), "Mahapaur" ( Mayor), Digdarshak (leader or director, one who points in the right direction), Shatkar (a score ofsix runs in cricket), Saptahik (weekly), Sansad (Parliament), "doordhwani"(telephone), "tanklekhan" (typewriting) among others.

SIR RABINDRANATH TAGORE

Rabindranath Tagore (7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941), Gurudev, wasa Bengali polymath who reshaped Bengali literature and music, as wellas Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20thcenturies.

Author of Gitanjali and its "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse",he became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in1913. Tagore's poetic songs were viewed as spiritual and mercurial;however, his "elegant prose and magical poetry" remain largely unknownoutside Bengal. He is sometimes referred to as "the Bard of Bengal". A PiraliBrahmin from Calcutta with ancestral gentry roots in Jessore, Tagore wrotepoetry as an eight-year-old. At the age of sixteen, he released his firstsubstantial poems under the pseudonym Bhānusiṃha ("Sun Lion"), whichwere seized upon by literary authorities as long-lost classics. By 1877 hegraduated to his first short stories and dramas, published under his realname.

As a humanist, universalist internationalist, and ardent anti-nationalist, hedenounced the British Raj and advocated independence from Britain. As anexponent of the Bengal Renaissance, he advanced a vast canon thatcomprised paintings, sketches and doodles, hundreds of texts, and some

two thousand songs; his legacy also endures in the institution hefounded, Visva-Bharati University.

Tagore modernised Bengali art by spurning rigid classical forms andresisting linguistic strictures. His novels, stories, songs, dance-dramas, andessays spoke to topics political and personal. Gitanjali (SongOfferings), Gora (Fair-Faced) and Ghare-Baire (The Home and the World)are his best-known works, and his verse, short stories, and novels wereacclaimed—or panned—for their lyricism, colloquialism, naturalism, andunnatural contemplation. His compositions were chosen by two nations asnational anthems: India's Jana Gana Mana and Bangladesh's Amar ShonarBangla. The Sri Lankan national anthem was inspired by his work.

The youngest of thirteen surviving children, Tagore (nicknamed "Rabi") wasborn on 7 May 1861 in the Jorasanko mansion in Calcutta to DebendranathTagore (1817–1905) and Sarada Devi (1830–1875).

Tagore was raised mostly by servants; his mother had died in his earlychildhood and his father travelled widely. The Tagore family was at theforefront of the Bengal renaissance. They hosted the publication of literarymagazines; theatre and recitals of Bengali and Western classical musicfeatured there regularly. Tagore's father invited severalprofessional Dhrupad musicians to stay in the house and teach Indianclassical music to the children. Tagore's oldest brother Dwijendranath was aphilosopher and poet. Another brother, Satyendranath, was the first Indianappointed to the elite and formerly all-European Indian Civil Service. Yetanother brother, Jyotirindranath, was a musician, composer, andplaywright. His sister Swarnakumari became a novelist. Jyotirindranath'swife Kadambari Devi, slightly older than Tagore, was a dear friend andpowerful influence. Her abrupt suicide in 1884, soon after he married, lefthim profoundly distraught for years.

Teejan Bai (born 24 April 1956) is an exponent of Pandavani, a traditionalperforming art form, from Chhattisgarh, in which she enacts tales fromthe Mahabharata, with musical accompaniments. She has been awardedthe Padma Shri in 1988, and Padma Bhushan in 2003 by Government ofIndia, besides 1995 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1995, givenby Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance &Drama. The eldest among her five siblings she heard her maternal grandfather,Brijlal Pradhi, recite the Mahabharata written by Chhattisgarhi writer, SabalSinh Chauhan in Chhattisgarhi Hindi and instantly took a liking to it.

She soon memorised much of it, and later trained informally under UmedSingh Deshmukh. At age 13, she gave her first public performance in aneighbouring village, Chandrakhuri (Durg) for Rs 10., singing in the Kapalikshaili (style) of 'Pandavani', a first time for a woman, as traditionally womenused to sing in the Vedamati, the sitting style. Contrary to the tradition,Teejan Bai performed standing singing out loud in her typical guttral voiceand unmistakable verve, entering what was till then, a male bastion. Within

a short time, she became known in neighboring villages and invitationspoured to perform at special occasions and festivals. Her big-break came, when Habib Tanvir, a theatre personality from Madhya Pradesh, noticedher talent, and she was called to perform for then Prime Minister, IndiraGandhi. In time she received national and international recognition,a Padma Shri in 1988, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1995, and PadmaBhushan in 2003.

She performedsequences from the Mahabharata in Shyam Benegal's acclaimedDoordarshan TV series Bharat Ek Khoj based on Jawaharlal Nehru's book.

Today she continues to enthrall audiences, the world over with her uniquefolk singing and her powerful voice; and pass on her singing to the youngergeneration. Though she was married at 12, she was expelled by thecommunity, the 'Pardhi' tribe, for singing Pandavani, being a woman.

She built herself a small hut and started living on her own, borrowingutensils and food from neighbours, yet never left her singing, whicheventually paid off for her. She never went to her first husband's home andlater split(divorce). In the following years, she was married twice, thoughnone of her marriages succeeded.

HOW IT EFFECTED US BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY?

The development of children in context and the geopolitical issues thatsurround children as the State, community and parental agencies strive tocare and rear children. With childhood concern it include the current statein India which involves Child Labour, Child Abuse, Upper/ Middle class bias, disabilities etc. State schemes like the Integrated Child DevelopmentServices and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan suffer from the ills of managingcountry-wide programmes , poor infrastructure support facilities andpersonnel, lack of adequate monitoring mechanisms, inability to connect tothe local realities including beliefs and aspirations of the people and theinability to get the various government departments together to move intandem; not to forget the rampant corruption in the systems.

MOTIVE BEHIND THE TASK:

The basic idea behind shortlisting this topic was to enhance how weimagine and experience life of a children in our country. We may have seena lot of instances where we see such types of happening where childrenwere forced to work. The reason behind one may be the family who arecompel and because of poverty they're forced to work. Apart from that, theother team also covered the topics which include the following -

1. Child Marriage

2. Child Obesity

3. Middle Class Society

4. Upper Class Society

5. Child Abuse

6. Child Disabilities

7. Children with learning disabilities

8. Orphan Child

9. Delinquent Child

10. Child Labour

Child Marriage: Under the child marriage, the team came forward with apresentation with the current situation in India.

For Child Obesity, they discussed about the childhood obesity which can bebrought on by a range of factors which often act in combination.“Obesogenic environment” is the medical term set aside for this mixtureof elements. The greatest risk factor for child obesity is the obesity of bothparents. This may be reflected by the family's environment and genetics.Other reasons may also be due to psychological factors and the child's bodytype.

A 2010 review stated that childhood obesitylikely is the result of the interaction of natural selection favoring today'sconsumerist society with easy access to energy dense cheap foods and lessenergy requirements in daily life.

Factors include the increase in use of technology, increase in snacks andportion size of meals, and the decrease in the physical activity of children. Astudy found kids that use electronic devices 3 or more hours a day hadbetween a 17- 44% increased risk of being overweight, or a 10- 61%increased risk of obese.

Page 26: “UNDERSTANDINGTHESELF”...ACKNOWLEDGMENT I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all those who provided me the possibility to complete this report. A special gratitude

To discuss the Middle Class Society the team represented a play with amotive behind to give a lesson how the society is influenced by the productaround.

With the play it influenced the present situation of Indiansociety with a lesson among children that the show off culture still exist andhow it effect both positively and negativity. In upper class society with aplay it motivated and gave a lesson towards a child's mentality.

Child Abuse is an another factor which was discussed with a presentationand lecture delivery which defined the child abuse or child maltreatment isphysical, sexual, or psychological maltreatment or neglect of a child orchildren, especially by a parent or other caregiver.

Page 27: “UNDERSTANDINGTHESELF”...ACKNOWLEDGMENT I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all those who provided me the possibility to complete this report. A special gratitude

Child disability is a basic concern now a days for the children belonging todifferent age group. Disability is an impairment that may be cognitive, developmental, intellectual, mental, physical etc. In 1984, UNESCOaccepted sign language for use in education of deaf children and youth.

Orphan Child generally include then the child being separated from theirparents due to forceful reasons or sometime accidental. In this situationthe child do not get adequate love and support from the parental that theyneeded, which force them towards peer pressure and into bad company.

INDTRODUCTION:

Social learning theory is a theory of learning and socialbehavior which proposes that new behaviors can be acquired byobserving and imitating others. It states that learning is a cognitiveprocess that takes place in a social context and can occur purelythrough observation or direct instruction, even in the absence of motorreproduction or direct reinforcement. In addition to the observation ofbehavior, learning also occurs through the observation of rewards andpunishments, a process known as vicarious reinforcement.

STEPS THAT INITIATED THE LEARNING OBSERVATION:

Many classroom and teaching strategies draw on principles of sociallearning to enhance students' knowledge acquisition and retention. Forexample, using the technique of guided participation, a teacher says aphrase and asks the class to repeat the phrase. Thus, students both imitateand reproduce the teacher's action, aiding retention.

STEP 2: ENCHANCHINGWITH POSITIVE STEPS :

An extension of guided participation is reciprocal learning, in which bothstudent and teacher share responsibility in leading discussions. Additionally, teachers can shape the classroom behavior of students by modellingappropriate behavior and visibly rewarding students for good behavior.

STEP 3: THE FINAL OUTCOMEWITH ITS INNER DEVELOPMENT:

By emphasizing the teacher's role as model and encouraging the studentsto adopt the position of observer, the teacher can make knowledge andpractices explicit to students, enhancing their learning outcomes.

REPORT ON LECTURE DELIVERY BY THE PRINCIPAL

The observation of teaching plays a very vital role in the institution.Education works as a support system in the life of a student. With theinformative lecture given by our college Principal on 26th September 17' atseminal hall has marked the event worth for all of us. He talked anddiscussed about the observation of the teaching, how it helps and what arethe key notes that has to be taken care for the students. He also talkedabout the present situation of education in India. He portrayed fewexamples with a positive notion on the cultural aspect of the curriculum inthe education system. With the lectures that he delivered, it allowed westudent and even teachers to make it more interactive. He also explainedthe method of teaching. Where he explained about both descriptive andpractical method of teaching.

Going into the curriculum he also mention about his experiences that howhe used to control the classes. He mentioned not just the strictness helps tocontrol the students, the basic involvement of friendly behavior is also veryimportant to create a healthy environment. He also mentioned how tomake student active in terms of learning and skills which embark them tolearn the real importance of the necessity of learning. The timely regularfeedback from student is also very important since it helps we teacher towork upon the needs that students have. He also mentioned how todisbursed the classes with a proper vision and mission which will helpstudent to connect with the teacher more. HOW IT EFFECTED US BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY?

What I personally have learnt from the delivery that the principal conveyed, that the teaching curriculum has its significance with a positive motivebehind the real understanding. There should be a healthy and friendlyconnection between both the teacher and the student so that studentshould be confident to share each and every conversation with the teacher. Each and every method of teaching both communicative and practicaleducation systems are also much important for the students to learn andgrab quickly. With the techniques that we have now today, would be quitechallenging however much easier to make the student understand andparticipate.

In addition to the observation of behavior, learning also occurs through theobservation of rewards and punishments, a process known as vicariousreinforcement. When a particular behavior is rewarded regularly, it willmost likely persist; conversely, if a particular behavior is constantlypunished, it will most likely desist. The theory expands ontraditional behavioral theories, in which behavior is governed solely byreinforcements, by placing emphasis on the important roles of variousinternal processes in the learning individual.

MOTIVE BEHIND THE GROUP ACTIVITY AT COLLEGE,STACKING CUPS:

The real idea behind working in group is to work under one roof withdifferent ideas, thoughts and challenges. Group activities helps one toencourage his or her leadership quality. With this idea VDIT on 27thSeptember 17' conducted a small event entitled a task to make tower outof the cups. The seminar hall was with chaos of students and teachersparticipating, cheering and enjoying the task. I was in a group in whichconsists of 10 people. ( Sarojini (Me) , Sonali, Anisha, Amrita, Pinki, TarunPreet, Sarita, Richa, Komal) We were asked to make tower out of the cups.Seemed an easy task however with the competition and the other teamwith enthusiasm incorporated. Although it was a competition one team hasto be declared "The Winner". The real idea behind this activity is to evolveas much student to understand and help exploring structural situations thatpromote competition and cooperation. With the people in my group, weworked in groups and made sure that we complete this task as soon aspossible. We started placing the cups in real hurry, there were times whenthe entire tower fell down which happened with rest of the team too.Although with all the challenges and the hard work we managed to reach3rd position in 2nd round. With this activity it helped us to coordinate a lotamong the group with a quality of leadership and the desire of working forthe winning answered.

CONCLUSIONThe entire workshop which include the live moviescreening, the journey of the iconic figure, chart making, group activities, learning to observe etc., showed alimelight in the concern of the individual’s behavior, whichenhanced a sense of understanding, responsibility andcreate a leadership quality. Determine what we want toachieve through the small group activities, bothacademically (e.g., knowledge of a topic) and socially (e.g.,listening skills). The activity related closely to the courseobjectives and class content and has been designed tohelp we students learn, not simply to occupy their time. When deciding whether or not to use group work for aspecific task. While the potential learning benefits ofgroup work are significant, simply assigning group work isguarantee that these goals will be achieved partially. Infact, group projects can and often helped to designed, supervised, and assessedin a way that promotesmeaningful teamwork and deep collaboration.
