• For the 0.01 outage probability, the system capacity increases from 45 users per sector in omnidirectional antenna case to about 200 users per sector if smart antenna is exploited.

• When a comparison of system capacity is considered between intra and inter cells interference environment, it depicts a significant decrease.

• For example, the total users that can be accommodated in a cell are 30 users. It shows that the number is dropped from 200 users per cell yield about 85 % decreases.

• For the 0.01 outage probability, the system capacity increases from 8 users per sector for n = 8 elements case to about 40 users per sector if n = 64 elements are used, which depicts an increase of 400 %.

•If 0.1 outage probability is considered, the system capacity is further increase from 25 users per sector for n = 8 elements case to about 170 users per sector if n = 64 elements are used, which give a 580 % increase.

Concluding Remarks

• The system capacity will be increased by taking the advantage of both code and spatial signature schemes to distinguish each user. • The most realistic reverse link capacity performance of this joint

system has been depicted by taking into consideration of prevailing co-channel and sides-lobes interferences in both intra-cell and inter-cell environments. • The obtained results have also revealed that the system capacity

is further deteriorated by interfering users from neighbouring cells. • However, this deterioration can be compensated if the

synthesized beams of smart antenna are narrower. • Therefore, the system capacity of this joint multiple access

system will significant increase spatial diversity becomes more dominant by increasing the number of element in smart antenna system.
