in lehua trees,• Who eats the nectar, of the
lehua blossoms,• Red feathers for the adults,• Pink and brown feathers for

Facts about the Apapane
The apapane eats the honey from the blossoms of the lehua tree.
The young birds have pink feathers with brown patches. The adult have red feathers.
They are endemic to Hawaii. They live in wet forests in
the ohia lehua trees or sometimes in lava tubes.
