Full Bore Through-ConduitInternal opening meets minimum bore size per API 6D. In the open position, smooth passage through the gate

Non Abrasive Opening and ClosingThe collapsing gate eliminates seat abrasion.

Double Block and BleedIn the closed position, the valve’s tight mechanical seal on both seats

allows the body cavity to be bled. By bleeding the body cavity, the

integrity of the valve seats can be verified.

Thermal ReliefExternal relief valve system automatically relieves internal body

pressure caused by thermal expansion.

Protection of Seat FacesIn both fully open and fully closed positions, the seat faces are

protected from the flow stream and in full contact with the gate.

This greatly extends seat life.

Ease of MaintenanceThe top entry design simplifies maintenance with in-line inspection

and repair after system depressurizing.

In Line RepairableThe top entry design allows for simple in-line inspection and repair

after system depressurizing.

Life Cycle CostsExpanding Gate valves outlast typical gate, globe,

Operating principle

In the fully closed position the valve gate and segment are

mechanically wedged against the seats forming a bubble

tight seal. As the valve begins to open, the gate and segment

collapse away from the seats, eliminating seat wear.

During mid-travel as the gate assembly continues to rise,

the assembly travels freely between stationary guide skirts.

A centralizing mechanism holds the assembly in the neutral

position until expansion is required.

As the stem travel nears completion, the bore in the gate

assembly becomes aligned with the conduit bore. The gate

assembly travels along their wedge angles expanding the

sealing faces to the seats. Flow is isolated from the valve

body.

Standard Features

Tight Hydraulically Energized SeatsTwo floating seats provide a hydraulic seal. The seat reacts to line pressure increases by increasing force on the

back side of the upstream seat creating a tighter seal against the gate. In the absence of line pressure, expansive

O-rings behind the seats maintain a tight seal.

Double Block and BleedIn the closed position, The valve’s tight hydraulic seal on both seats

allows the body cavity to be bled. By bleeding the body cavity, the

integrity of the valve seal can be verified.

SLAB GATE VALVE

Operating principle

In the closed position and with equal pressure throughout

the valve, an initial seal (1) is formed with the raised insert

on the seat face.

As line pressure is applied to the valve, it acts on the gate

forcing it against the downstream seat. A seal is formed

with the soft seat insert as well as a metal to metal seal. The

“O-rings” (2) prevent any down stream flow at this point.

An upstream seal is formed by line pressure (3). Line pressure

hydraulically energizes the seat by forcing it against the gate

face. The O-ring (4) also forms a seal behind the seat.

Excessive valve body pressure is automatically relieved.

When the pressure inside the body exceeds line pressure,

from such causes as thermal expansion, the upstream seat

is forced back into its recess and the excess pressure in the

valve body is bled between the seat and the gate into the

line.

Rising Stem Ball Valve design provides true friction

free operation. The valve features a mechanically set sealing feature

that provides a bubble tight shutoff against liquids and gases. There

is no pinch point effect to wiredraw seats or core face. The valve is

designed to be inherently firesafe and incorporates an anti-blowout

stem feature.

The Swing Check Valve design is the choice when

equipment protection from backflow is a concern. The swing

check provides quick action and is available with a lock open

feature to promote pig passage. 316 SS trim is a standard

feature.
