Developing the new guide…
Let’s be iterative and agile! Let’s not close down on options for its
format or content too early Let’s try to make the advice on governing
activities ‘scalable’ from Chair of the Main Board down to any team member
But how?
5
Why not create a project plan?
6
Why we don’t have a traditional plan
New topic - research is an open ended process
Not sure about availability - we are volunteers!
Faster than expected? Let’s be ‘first to market’
Need more time? It will take as long as it takes
Frequent changes of direction expected - maintenance of a Gantt chart impracticable
7
… and we want to avoid the problems of ‘waterfall’ projects
This is an ‘innovation’ project We are not sure yet what we need to
produce, or how to get there…
8
We want to avoid this
9
… but we want to avoid chaos
We need to follow a process Otherwise this will be me in 12 months:
10
Our process…
We have a formal project planning document (ask if you want a copy) approved by Governance SIG last week
Here is a summary of the process and its rationale…
11
Different approaches to the ‘Agile Governance’ guidance will have different ‘fitness for purpose’
