Apostolic Prayers for June General Intention: Unemployed. That the

unemployed may receive support and find the work they need to live in dignity.

Missionary Intention: Faith in Europe. That Europe may rediscover its Christian roots through

the witness of believers.

Help Needed The Ozanam Center at Visitation of Mary Parish in Akron is in need of a couple things. Once clients have requested furniture we have to go visit to verify need. We try to always send two people to do this. We have recently lost one of our people due to illness so we are in need of someone to fill that spot and also possibly two more people to add a group and ease the burden on everyone. Also, we could use a few people to help volunteer at the Center doing things we cannot get done on Saturday when clients are there. Summer Programs

Did you know that our Diocese offers summer programs for children and adults with disabilities? The summer programs offer respite and provide life-enhancing activities for children and adults in a Catholic setting. They are a great way to meet new friends, learn new things and just have fun! 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

The annual 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration will be held Sunday, 27 July at the 2:30pm Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Bishop Richard Lennon, Bishop of Cleveland will be the principal celebrant. Reservations are now being accepted for couples married 50 years (married in 1964). Couples who are celebrating other significant anniversaries (55 or over) or have missed previous celebrations are welcome to register and attend. Seating is limited in the Cathedral. The number of guests will be determined by the seating capacity and total number registered. Please fill out a registration form found in the Church vestibule and return it to the MOS Rectory. 5K and Family Fun Run The Our Lady of the Elms first annual 5K and Family Fun Run is scheduled for June 14. The Family Fun Run begins at 8am, followed by the 5K at 8:30am. Both events will start at The Elms Elementary School at 1290 W. Market St., Akron. Register online at www.theelms.org/5k. Pre-race day entrance fee for the 5K is $30 per person, $35 day of race. Scholarship Applications Available

The Demkee Family Scholarship Fund of the Catholic Community Foundation provides an annual academic scholarship to a registered parishioner of a Catholic parish in Summit or Wayne County who is presently enrolled at The University of Akron or satellite branch. Students eligible to apply:

• Are currently accepted to, or enrolled in, as part time or full time students at The University of Akron or any

satellite branch of the University

• Can document a minimum scholastic achievement of 3.0 GPA

• Registered in a Catholic parish in Wayne or Summit County

Note: though financial need will be considered, it is not the sole factor in award selection. The 2014 scholarship award will be $850. The Catholic Community Foundation will send written notification to the awardee by June 15.

First Step Programs The Church’s teachings on marriage, divorce, and remarriage are often misunderstood. This program is offered to help everyone, especially those who have experienced divorce, learn more about Catholic teaching in these areas.
