About the IITRAM
About the Department
Institute of Infrastructure Technology Research and
Management (IITRAM) has been established by the
Government of Gujarat as an Autonomous University and has
been mandated to bring about significant change in
Engineering Education with respect to Technical and
Managerial knowledge in the area of Infrastructure. The
objective of this Institute is to serve as a Center of excellence
in Research and Teaching in all areas pertaining to
Infrastructure, and the Institute has a vision of acquiring a
status of National importance in Infrastructure and
related areas.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at IITRAM,
Ahmedabad started right after one year of the inception of
campus in 2014 and has been offering B.Tech Mechanical
Engineering, M. Tech ( Mechanical Infrastructure) and
Doctoral Programs. The students of all tiers have access
to both expert faculty members in the department and
institute supported industry engagement opportunities. The
department has extensive laboratory and infrastructural
facilities for teaching, training, research and development.
The following topics will be covered during the program:
1. Application of MATLAB in Finite difference Modelling
2. Application of MATLAB in heat transfer calculation
3. MATLAB for Finite Element Modelling
4. MATLAB for Finite Volume Modelling
5. Nonlinear vibration Chaos and Bifurcation analysis in
mechanical Engineering
6. Modeling of textured surface to improve friction in IC
Engines by using MATLAB
7. Modeling of friction in fluid film bearing
8. Graphical Modelling of robotic arm by MATLAB
9. Multi-Body Dynamics Simulation using SimMechanics
10. Visualization of MATLAB simulation in augmented
reality
Theme of the Course Highlights of Workshop
Objective
Mathematical modeling of nonlinearity is eminently visible
in problems of practical importance in Mechanical
engineering Analysis. Be it Nonlinear Vibration, Bifurcation,
Chaos, solid Mechanics; optimal scheduling; resource
optimization; space science; Fluid Mechanics; structural
dynamics; and many more. A nonlinear problems cannot be
solved by using analytical methods. The investigations of
problems of such nonlinear problem require a mathematical
modelling. The 5-day short term training program on
'Application of MATLAB in Mechanical Engineering
Analysis' aims to achieve this. We have brought together an
expert group of fluid mechanics, vibration, and robotics and
applied - on a common platform to apprise young researchers
all across the state of GUJARAT and other part of India about
the various aspects the core Mechanical Engineering. Thus,
the thrust of the expert group is on the systematic presentation
with hands on practice MATLAB. We feel that domain
knowledge, so developed in the workshop, will immensely
benefit practicing engineers, research scholars, academicians
and students of mechanical engineering.
The workshop mainly aims in importing knowledge in
advanced mathematical modelling in mechanical
engineering. This workshop also highlights to get insight
into different methods of modeling, to reduce friction in
engine cylinder, study the vibration in rotordynamic system
by using MATLAB Methods to improve friction in
lubrication surface.
Suitably furnished accommodation will be made available if requested in advance, in the hostels of the IITRAM for out stationed candidates on twin sharing basis on nominal charges.
