Information for applicants University of Otago Wallace Residency at The Pah Homestead

Alumni of the University of Otago Arts Fellowships and other creative scholars associated with the University of Otago are invited to apply for the three-month University of Otago Wallace Residency at The Pah Homestead in Auckland. In association with the University of Otago, the Wallace Arts Trust aims to extend its support of the arts to include this opportunity for emerging and mid-career arts practitioners such as writers, curators, film makers and composers. Accommodation for the Resident is at the TSB Bank Wallace Centre – an historic house known as The Pah Homestead which has been restored by the Auckland City Council. The Italianate-style Homestead is set in the picturesque Monte Cecilia Park, and is close to significant research services. The Resident will be provided with a fully-furnished apartment with a double bedroom, located above the gallery which houses the Wallace Arts Trust’s collection of New Zealand art. The Resident will be given the use of a car during the period of the Residency. Residents will not be charged for accommodation, internet access, heating and lighting. Pets are not permitted. In addition, the University of Otago will pay a stipend of $3,000 per month to a person not already salaried by the University.

• Applications, using the attached form, should be sent to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Division of Humanities, University of Otago, PO Box 56, Dunedin 9054 or via email to [email protected].

• Applicants should include Curriculum Vitae, outline the project to be undertaken during the Residency and indicate desired dates of taking up the Residency.

This form, and further information on the Residency, can be found on the Otago Fellows website at www.otago.ac.nz/otagofellows/opportunities.html. Enquiries may be directed to [email protected]. Please note: The Wallace Arts Trust already offers four residencies for visual artists through its Annual Art Awards. For this reason, applications for visual art projects are unlikely to be accepted for the University of Otago Wallace Residency at The Pah Homestead.
