APPLYING RELEASE AGENTDESMOLDEANTE ABABOL release products are based on high performance polymers. It brings to the surface of the mould high anti-sticking properties and lubricity, being a barrier between the mould and the piece manufactured, avoiding sticking and helping the extraction.

For many years waxes were used directly, in some cases solvents were used to dilute the wax and in majority of cases with high toxicity. In the 70’s appeared the first semi-permanent release agents based on polymers, and then with a high concentration on solvents (90-98 % of total).

In the 90’s appeared the first high performance water based release agents. Solvent free release products are widely used because they are environmental and health friendly. These products have a high anti-sticking capacity and gives the surface a lubricity that helps the release process.

ABABOL Productsproducts with release and lubricity properties to

suit all kinds of processes. ABABOL Products have the technology that allows the mould to release free of solvents in parts made with gel coat on paintable parts or parts with easy auto

in the production process.

ABABOL Productsfor releasing and lubricating plastic such as polyesters, epoxies, polyethylene, phenoplasts, amino plastics, vinyl derivatives, acrylic derivatives, glass, polyurethane, rubber, elastomers, metals, etc.

We have formulations without organic solvents or alcohols, free of CFC or any other volatile organic compound, meeting the highest environmental requirements:

·ABABOL R+ Specially designed for the release of all types of gel coats or other types of paint. R+ is recommended in cases where you need a “plus” of release or where high lubricity is required.

APPLYING INSTRUCTIONSThere are two main ways of applying release agents: manually or with a spray gun.

It is important to follow the instructions for each release agent application:

1. Do not use cotton towels sponges and other absorbent materials because they could absorb important material.

2. Each piece of paper or towel you have used to apply the release agent must be discarded and you must avoid mixing release agent polymerized with new ones.

3. Never use materials with pigments or other materials soluble on water because this can have an influence in the polymerization of materials.

4. Adding more quantity of release agent other than the recommendation does not improve the release capacity. We recommended a piece of cellulose paper.

APPLYING MANUALLY

1. First of all wet some clean paper with the release agent and apply uniformly on the surface of the mould.( Some manual spray systems are available to apply the material)

2.

process must not be done immediately, except when the surface is hot.

3. Standard cure time of release agents it is around 15 minutes at 20-25ºC. After that time mould is ready for a new coat or to start production.

·ABABOL G Recommended for use where an extra lubricity and anti-stick in the mould is needed.

·ABABOL N and H are products based on our technology LCC (Liquid Crystal Coating) with

capacity of release, commonly used in elastomers and rubber industry.

We also have release products formulated with organic solvents, ABABOL P, for customers that require it.

To spray correctly it is recommended 3:1 air/material relation and a low pass of product.

The best way is apply several coats with low volume. In that case evaporation is immediate.

In the video you can see that by keeping the gun still you get an accumulation of the release agent which will result in poor releases.

Mould temperature is also important. In a hot mould polymerization occurs quickly.

More material must be applied by step.

At www.ababoldemould.com are videos available where you can see spray application of

The movement must be left to right and not up and down.

In the examples you can see 3 kind of marks.

Excess of air Ideal use Excess of liquid

Como datos orientativos para una temperatura ambiente de 20-25ºC.

3. Hand speed must be adjusted with the volume of release agent applied.

APPLYING WITH A SRAY GUN

When using a spray system there are some recommendations to follow:

1. The nozzle recommended must be similar or lower than 0,5 mm with air assistance. The volume of material must be controlled.

The arm movement must follow the mould and not only the hand.

Correct movement procedure.

2. The movement of the gun must be uniform to guarantee a uniform proportion of release agent.

Incorrect movement.
