Welcome to Art After Dark: All that Glitters!
We are thrilled that you have joined us for the seventh Art After Dark at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Since its inauguration almost nine years ago, this important event has raised close to one million dollars, and we at the Museum are extremely proud and grateful that it has become a major fundraising event for the Division of Education and Public Programs.
As a donor to Art After Dark, you provide essential support for the Museum’s Division of Education and Public Programs while enabling its dedicated staff to carry out its mission—to relate, through interpretation, the Museum’s collections to the needs and interests of a diverse audience.
The Museum has recently unveiled the results of a multiyear Strategic Planning effort. Among its goals are audience development, activating the collection, enhancing our visitors’ experience, and civic engagement. The role of education at the Museum is at the heart of all of these four initiatives, and for this reason your support of this event is more important than ever as we build on past successes and embark on a new chapter in the history of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
We offer a toast to four terrific cochairs—Pamela Berkman, Andrea Freundlich, Anne Hamilton, and Karen Tarte—and their dedicated committee for their passion and vision, which have created another successful Art After Dark.
Please enjoy this evening’s festivities, and thank you for your ongoing and most generous support.

GREETINGS:
It is my pleasure to welcome all of the artists, educators and supporters gathered for the Art After Dark fundraiser, celebrating extraordinary art and exceptional cultural education at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Since the Museum’s new home opened in 1929, this Philadelphia institution has never ceased to inspire its visitors. This opening also marked the beginning of a new era in community arts and enrichment. The Museum’s Division of Education and Public Programs seized the opportunity that this facility provided to invite visitors, both young and old, to discover art.
Over the years, staff, volunteers and supporters have developed some of the most comprehensive and successful museum education programs in the nation. From tours, lectures and classes for the experienced art lover to fun, hands-on activities for the youngest visitor, the program has infused generations of patrons with a better appreciation for the Museum’s collections.
As Governor, and on behalf of all Pennsylvanians, I extend my sincere appreciation to the Division of Education for all they have given to the citizens of our Commonwealth. Please accept my best wishes for an enjoyable, memorable and successful fundraiser.

We are thrilled to welcome you to the Philadelphia Museum of Art on this exciting occasion—Art After Dark: All that Glitters. Inspired by the extraordinary architecture of the Museum’s iconic building, the committee has put months of work into creating an event that is sure to dazzle our guests.
Tonight is all about the sparkling gem that is the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In addition to its world-renowned collections, the Museum offers an innovative array of educational programming. Year after year, the work of the Division of Education and Public Programs makes the Museum’s collections and special exhibitions come to life for a vast and diverse audience of all ages and backgrounds.
As event cochairs, we are deeply grateful to you for contributing to the success of this event. We also thank our enthusiastic committee members who have done so much to create this delightful evening, especially Tribute Book Cochairs Kirstin Engelman and Julia Fleischner for their tireless efforts in making this year’s book a huge success. We honor the cochairs and committees of past events, and we salute Marla Shoemaker, The Kathleen C. Sherrerd Senior Curator of Education, and her staff for doing such admirable work.
Please, enjoy everything that Art After Dark has to offer, and have an amazing night!

Dear Art After Dark Committee Members, Donors, and Guests,
Congratulations to one and all for this truly shimmering evening of art and entertainment—all to support educational activities at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Thanks to the funds raised this evening, Museum programs will continue to introduce thousands of children from Philadelphia, New Jersey, and the Delaware Valley to creativity and the arts while engaging their young minds in thinking about and responding to some of the greatest artworks of humankind. In this era of shrinking school budgets, it is even more important that museums like this one reach children from all walks of life.
I extend special thanks to this year’s Committee Cochairs Pamela Berkman, Andrea Freundlich, Anne Hamilton, and Karen Tarte for their enthusiasm and hard work, not to mention their grace and style. They are true ambassadors for the Museum and the Division of Education and Public Programs, and without them and their enthusiastic committee, including Tribute Book Cochairs Kirstin Engelman and Julia Fleischner, this event would not be possible.
I hope you enjoy this festive and meaningful evening and come back to the Museum often to experience all that it has to offer—from a wide array of family and adult programs to spectacular exhibitions and installations —there is something for the art lover in all of us to enjoy!
Have a wonderful evening, and again, thank you.
