SCINTILLATING

SUPERSTARS

SUPERSTARS

We truly are half way to NATIONAL.

We’re almost the It National Area. How many

ways can I say it before I’ll believe it’s going to

happen? At this point there’s no turning back,

there’s just figuring out how to do it.

How will 21 units reach 30 unit members

by June? How will 21 directors meet their

wholesale commitments each month, so our

first line can do $100,000 and our second line

reach $50,000 by June? How will our unit do

$30,000 a month, so

we can finish the

$800,000 Unit Club

by June? And HOW

will we get all this

done by JUNE 20th

which is our official

end-to-this-year

date?

We’ll do it

because I’ve received

hugs and seen tears.

I’ve been sent e-

mails and cards. I’ve

looked in the eyes of

the committed and

felt the passion of those willing to give

sacrificially. I’m serious. We’ll do it because

our directors and consultants will do whatever

it takes. We are the IT GIRLS, and we are

going to stand on that stage in our red high

heels, and represent the CHARTER members

of the IT NATIONAL AREA, and everyone will

know us for our excellence. And “I’ve Gotta

Feeling” everyone will remember us for our

song and our dance. Have you learned it yet??

Believing that IT’s a done deal,

Dear Scintillating Superstars,

Hundreds of pictures were taken on May

1st during the Tour de Martin, but no one

captured the moment that will be my favorite.

After stop #2 at my mom’s house, Mom told

Amy she wanted us to drive by the front of the

house, so she could see the trolley. I couldn’t

figure out why we were driving by, but I turned

in time, to catch the image of my mom behind

the screen door of 501 North Sterling, smiling

and waving to us all. No doubt the neighbors

were watching too,

as Rita the Trolley rang her bell, and the

18 cars following

honked their horns.

(Mom wanted me to

be sure you knew

how great you

looked as you filed

through her kitchen.

She worried that she

didn’t tell you how

dressed up and

beautiful you were.)

I had no idea

that just calling off

the names of the

trolley winners

would be so momentous. One new consultant,

said she’ll never forget watching grown women

jump out of their seats to cheer, and a few even

had tears in their eyes because they’d made it!

Thirty of them pinned on their “I RODE RITA”

badges, and proudly climbed aboard. I’m told

that the rice krispies were eaten, the booklet

was read, the songs were played, and the

memories continue to be shared. This was a day

and an event that will rank as one of my Mary

Kay favorites. It’s amazing when you have 90+

winners who want to learn about your life.

What a fitting event to celebrate reaching

the HALF WAY mark of our NIQ journey.

Each month I will feature a different Future Martin Area Director in our newsletter.

Directors have all gone through many of the same issues that you have or may go through in your life and career.

I know if she can… YOU can. I hope you enjoy our new monthly article.

Director Name: Kathleen DiLuciano

Former Occupation: (currently) Junior High Social Studies Teacher and manager of family business

City/State: La Salle, IL

Joined Mary Kay: October 2003

Debuted as a director: February 2010

# of months of driving free: 6 months

Highest commission check in one month: $2600

What was the sequence of events that brought you into the company? (recruiting layering process) I was invited to a guest event at National Sales Director Sandy Miller’s home in August of 2003. I was a customer of my recruiter, Meg Arneson and her cousin. I thought I was just going to help her and have a good time with positive ladies that were all winners.

Why did you join? I had been doing LOTS of activities at my school, many of them volunteer, and wanted to do something for myself. I liked the amazing women I had met and got reacquainted with friends in Mary Kay. I realized I was making about $10 an hour coaching. Mary Kay appointments took less time and I made a lot more than $10 per hour!.

Why did you want to become a director? I have always wanted to be a director. I rarely join an organization without becoming very involved. I struggled with believing that I had what it took and proved myself right for a long time. I was the reason why I didn’t make it. As my need to help the Martin Area grew, my confidence grew. I knew I had to be there on the steps when we debuted at Seminar 2010. Last year I had my son and realized I needed to be a finisher to be the kind of mom I wanted for my son.

Has there been a dark season? I think the darkest time in my business was when I had lost sight of my goals. I had product on my shelf and was not willing to book appointments. I got frustrated with goals not reached and did nothing to change it. It wasn’t until I realized I just had to be obedient to do the efforts that results followed, and I felt powerful!

THIS MONTH’S ISSUE OF:

IF SHE CAN, I CAN!

Page 11: April 2010 Newsletter

Page 11

What is the one thing that was difficult for you or you were afraid of in this business? Follow up has been my nemesis! I wanted to make sure my customers realized that their happiness was my goal, but I didn’t work out a system for staying in touch with them. Now I stay on top of the 2 days rule, then 2 weeks, and then 2-3 months. This has made my relationship with customers so much stronger.

During what time period did you have the greatest growth of income and what was the growth? I grew so much this past year. I went from four team members to a new car and then a new unit!

What do you attribute the growth? We had a definite deadline and a huge goal to meet. We had to help the whole Future Area go into NIQ! I found my confidence and realized how much I have to give.

What advice would you give a consultant who wants to be a Director? Find your motivation! Whatever it is: money, family values, friends, recognition, free cars, sense of accomplishment, whatever it is, make a clear deadline. You will get so much done in the final days to finish that goal, and your life will be forever changed! You will never know what you are capable of if you don’t give it all you’ve got all the way to that deadline. Surprise yourself and step into greatness!
